Will changes be made? Probably not. We are going to have to wait until Mark Richt literally decides to retire or passes away until changes are made. This isn't like any other staff problem we've had. Mark donated ONE MILLION dollars to the program. In MIAMI, a small private school where cash is king. What he did was basically secure his employment through a legal "bribe." The school administration doesn't prioritize football performance like they do at other top schools. Being a perennial 8, 9, maybe 10 win team is enough to keep Blake James and crew perfectly content. The other coaches on the staff are either ride-or-die with Mark, or will probably leave soon enough. Kuligowski saw the writing on the wall.
The bottom line is that this is entirely Mark Richts fault.
OFFENSE
- Mark is the Head Coach so accountability ultimately falls on him.
- Mark calls the plays and our play calling is not capable of being understood by mere human minds. It is beyond basic. Opposing coordinators dont have to game-plan for Miami.
- Jon Richt is the QB coach, and we all know what this is. Pure nepotism. Jon would never go against anything Mark says. Also, what are Jon's credentials. Do we have a qualified QB coach?
- Both quarterbacks played like absolute garbage tonight making the same moronic throws into double or triple coverage. When both quarterbacks perform the same, its no longer an isolated incident. It is a trend. A correlation back to a higher authority.
- Benching N'Kosi was the right move after 2 back-to-back interceptions. But not for the rest of the game! All this did was confirm the theory among the fan base that Mark Richt favors Malik Rosier. Perry is obviously the better player. It seems like Richt was just waiting for the opportune moment to pounce on Perry and bench him when he doesn't bench any of the other garbage players. (It took 4 straight losses just to give Perry SOME reps.)
- Perry coming out looking like a deer in the headlights is a clear indication that hes not being prepared for anything before the game. He played good enough to throw 4 (really 5) touchdowns last week in a HUGE rivalry game in a packed stadium.
- Not only is the play calling terrible, but the design of the plays and routes themselves are bad. There are ZERO wrinkles in our offense. It is 100% predictable. No misdirection. No motion. No deception. No creating mismatches. NOTHING.
- The offensive line rotational carousel continues into the 7th game this season. For some reason, (also unknown to mankind) Hayden Mahoney and Jahair Jones started tonight. Its this staffs THIRD year and were still starting Al Golden's FCS-tier players. How have we not recruited anyone capable of outplaying these scrubs? Maybe we have and our coaches arent playing them.
- We somehow bring in players like Jeff Thomas and Richards who could start day one on championship teams but they'll go through their 3 years here with 2nd string numbers. If they stay healthy enough.
DEFENSE
- I cant say much about the defense. One thing that I personally dont understand is the linebacker play. They're supposed to be filling the lanes and stopping the run but they get taken out of every play. Sometimes it seems like we could play 8 players on defense. No linebackers and the results would be the same. Pinckney gets his tackles for loss but for every big tackle he makes, he misses another big one in the backfield.
- Michael Jackson took himself out of the game by attempting to tackle a player who was already on the ground. Why do that? This is MIAMI. The refs are looking for every little reason to penalize you. We need smart players who know when to pump the brakes. The targeting was complete BS but it doesn't matter. Dont give the refs the opportunity.
