I know the sky is falling and were never gonna play another football game but here's a few things I liked from us week 1 in a tough road game. If you have negative things to say, there are threads for that.

1. Courtrel Jenkins is gonna be really good. Already is serviceable at nose.
2. Huert is strong and can hold the point against a double team, just isn't in shape. Will he get there? That's been the problem for others before him.
3. I thought chick and Pierre both actually looked very good. Those guys got some money on the line this year and I think they're ready to go.
4. This is the one that's gonna have everybody up in arms but I liked a lot of what I saw from Kaaya. Kid hung tough and made some throws, adjusted at the line of scrimmage, and for the most part seemed to understand where the blitz was coming from. It's interesting to me how everybody says "we should just take our lumps with the freshman" and then get so butthurt when we take our lumps with a freshman. ****ers crying out for Heaps, smdh. A lot of revisionist historians on this board.
5. I'm gonna be optimistic and say Braxton getting so much burn early is more about him than the guys behind him. They clearly think a lot of his blocking ability. I think kaaya is gonna have to rely on him short and I think he's up to snuff.
6. Tucker needs a lot of work but he stands out as an athlete. Will be interesting to see if they develop him as a blocker or receiver threat. anybody else see him take out two dudes on one play? Think it may have been on the touchdown.

I have my complaints like anybody else but the season just started and I think well know a lot more about this team after Nebraska than we do now.

Positives?

Is this dude serious?

The only positives of last night's game are going to declare for the draft early to get the **** away from this coaching staff

We hit a TE for a TD. Would have been a highlight of the night if the rest of the game had gone differently. Props to you for starting this thread- it won't end well though.

No it won't. It's fun to see nerdy old men lose their **** on a forum though so in a way I've constructed a win win.

1. Duke is still the MAN.....

2. Defense was flying around and hitting all night. Only if they are allowed to get more aggressive......

3. Perryman is an AA. We already knew that though......

I agree with most of what you are saying here. All the mopes wanted Kaaya, they got him and are now surprised with limited play calling and freshman mistakes. The d was serviceable enough to give our O a chance to take hold of the game. We had three possessions inside their 20 that resulted in just two FGs. There was much more pressure from our DL than there has been in at least a couple seasons.

This is on Coley and OL. This season will end up like most projected, in that 3-4 loss range. As kaaya settles play calling SHOULD improve. OL not so sure. I think 10 wins is still our absolute ceiling, and that includes a December bowl win, and that's only if these positives continue to improve. If not, we will have regressed this year and there's nothing to defend.

I was really only frustrated with the offensive game plan last night. I thought the D was pretty good minus the one nice drive in the first quarter. Then of course we died down in the fourth... But lets not kid ourselves we should have had a lot more points by then. your D stays much stronger and has a better attitude when there are points on the board after a TO.

I am no genius, but when you have the best player on the ****** field on your team, you don't wait thill the third series to get him the ball. And whne you have the fastest guy you dont wait till the second quarter to try to push the safeties back. When the retards calling the game beat you to your call your too fuggin late. We need a bomb early to Dorsett to keep safeties honest and we need a HEALTHY dose of Duke early and often in every game...... Ohh and I am pretty sure Stacy Coley is good for something more than a three yard route or a bubble screen.....

Kaaya looked just like you would expect a freshman to look and the only thing that ****es me off is I bought into the hype on him. I knew he would be waaaayyyy overloaded with that big of a crowd on the road... **** happened to Dorsey too and he was great for us. I think the reins will be handed to RW by Nebraska.....
