Who ends up backing up Bain and Mesidor should probably be the position battle. I'd also expect one or two of the ones who dont win the backup jobs to portal out come winter

A healthy and fresh Mesidor will be much needed in Week 1.

Blount is true freshman age, now, in year 2. If he’s as good as a lot of us think he is, or will be, he’ll be impossible to keep off the field. But again, he’s basically a supercharged true freshman, body-wise. He just turned 18. I’m excited to see what the product looks like against a team like ND, but we need Mesidor badly in that game. Having a 24 year old in a game like that is huge.

im not sure thats a certainty considering depending how bain plays....he and mesidor will be out of the door. Though i would love to keep Bain...its the s.fla story...If he has a year we can see him having he is OUT OF HERE.

I’m not sure who started the “Bench Akheem Mesidor” fam club, but it has to be in the CIS hall of fame as the dummest take of all time. Mesidor has been selected to the All Conference team every season of his career that he has been fully healthy. He is a leader who has consistently taken on the challenge to play out of position to help his team, at West Virginia he even played Nose Tackle. He has been very productive every season he has started averaging 5.5 sacks and 8.5 TFLs. He has only played one full season at DE which was the 2022 season, posting the best single season stats of his career, and that’s with playing 2 less games than he played the other two seasons as a starter (2021 & 2024). That in itself should tell you him playing DE exclusively is best for both him and this team.

In 2022 he only played in 11 games, not the normal 12-13. So if he averaged his 2022 states even with 1-2 less games per season here is how he would have ranked on those Miami defensive lines from 2011 - 2021, that had 8 players drafted.

2011
  • Sacks: 2nd best on team
  • TFL: 3rd best on team
2012
  • Sacks: 2nd best on team
  • TFL: 3rd best on team
2013
  • Sacks: 3rd best on team
  • TFL: 4th best on team
2014
  • Sacks: 3rd best on team
  • TFL: 4th best on team
2015
  • Sacks: 3rd best on team
  • TFL: 4th best on team

  • Sacks: 3rd best on team
  • TFL: 3rd best on team
If you think any staff is benching a player with these numbers you don’t know football at all. Yes the 5star behind him will play and play a lot, but if Miami is serious about winning at all he starts every game this season.

Which one can cover slot WR the best?
I know you are being sarcastic, but the defense is not designed for the stand up DE (the one Hetherman does drop into coverage) to play on the same side as the slot receiver.

So I wouldn’t expect any of them covering a slot

Brother that was 3 years ago. Idk anyone to regain form 3 years later.
It’s leas about regaining form and more about playing in his natural position at his natural weight. Mesidor in 2024 was basically Anthony Chickillo under Al Golden.

In 2024 he bulked up to 285 to be a undersized DT, thus making him fat and slow totally neutralizing his quickness yet he was tied for first on the team in sacks and 3rd for TFLs

Sounds like a long way of saying regain form.
