who leads the backfield? chaney, parrish, allen, fletcher
wr room ... harrell, george, x, colbie, horton, smith, joseph
offensive line ... (most excited about this one) nelson, mauigoa, cooper, lee, rivers, cohen, mccoy
cbs ... (another dramatic change) brown, richards, porter, couch, davis, freeny

new year and new hope as usual, but even the downers have to admit the talent has improved ... also haven't heard any warning from cribby ... we're not SEC ready, but in the ACC we have enough to make noise

I'll tell you in about 4 weeks.

No matter who starts, the depth compared to the last two years is night and day!

DL is one NT away from 2-3 deep of elite or near elite talent.
LB is young but talented.
DB is weak due to safety depth and the unknown of who out of the 8 CBs will be starters

OL is 7-8 deep with starter types but 3 are freshmen/RS freshmen
WR is deep but similar to DB: I'm with CaneHead_ (Young, Harrell, X) but think RayRay, George, Horton, Washington get snaps
TE 2 elite starters and young talented depth
RB can the best talent stay healthy. If not, this is a weakness.
QB can TVD stay healthy otherwise this is a serious weakness.

Let me just highlight this point. This is by far the biggest concern.

Colby Young.

I wonder how good of a blocker colbie young is, could mix him in like a big slot role like how the packers did with lazard.

Lazard was the go to chain mover for the Packers and I can see Colbie being in a similar role. Get the 1st and if the DB misses on the tackle or he can break out of it, it can be a big gain.

Not sure what you mean.
Not sure what happened to Canehead_ post so I updated mine.

Young, X, Harrell start assuming all three are healthy.
RayRay, George, Horton, and Washington get the rest of the snaps. Maybe Redding if he has a light bulb moment.

I agree with you on the starters. And I agree with the next 3 names as likely 2nd team by end of season. But Brashard had 300+ yards last season, second only to Young. I see him as our 2nd slot in (he's big enough to be Y, too), don't think he's riding pine. RayRay is special, so he may end up passing Brashard in snap count per game at some point.

The roster is finally updated online. What sticks out to me is how light the DT room is in terms of size

6’0 280 - Gore
6’2 280 - Deen
6’4 285 - Harrison-Hunte
6’5 270 - Lichtenstein
6’3 205 - Leonard
6’5 300 - Josh Horton* not on roster yet
6’3 325 - Moten

That’s it for the whole room. Leonard is an absolute monster of course but wow that room can afford a single injury and teams are going to try and run it right at us all season again up the middle. Mauigoa and Bissainthe are going to have to make so many tackles.

Leonard really lost a lot of weight.

I'm getting old and forgot Smith. The kid will 100% get snaps and I hope they run him in some hybrid roles (RB/WR) along with Chris Johnson.
