Portal jumpers mid season

They bashed Rousseau for making his own life decision to avoid the CoVid year and enter the draft. They bashed Mario for ditching Golden for Saban but rip Golden for sucking. If you tried to take their guns or mandate masks and vaccines, these same people would squalk about their freedoms being infringed upon.
I get what you are saying, I do. But I don’t know, the beauty of football when I played was that it wasn’t all about you and what you want. It was about the team. Guys working together, sacrificing personal goals to win. The selfishness of the NFL turned me off to it, and now college football is going the same way. Don’t get enough snaps as a true fresh, gone. Coach asks you to switch positions for the team, gone. It is quickly becoming NFL lite and at that point it will be time to find something else to do on Saturdays.

Also, what I see in the future is schools running their team like a business. 4-5 star not panning out in season two...cut from team etc. No reason the shoe shouldn’t swing the other way.

After thinking about it would rather see them enter mid season than half as s it on the practice field and be cancers in the locker room.
Exactly what I was thinking. If you don't want to be here then get the fvck out. As a player I don't want them around my locker room. If they leave midseason, at least it shows they are honest and don't want to hurt the team by going through the motions.

I agree on the direction of football. I stopped watching the NFL a long time ago. CFB is headed there with the portal and all the money involved to pay players.

If we hire Highsmith in a GM capacity, he’ll run it like an NFL business to a degree and I think that will help us in a world where we don’t have the power of the Bama’s and UGA’s.

All of that.

The players that skip out on their teammates when it's time to play a bowl game **** me off.

I didn't like the Rousseau situation at all either.

I also haven't watched the NFL in years. Saturdays, I used to watch college football all day long. If we aren't playing, them I'm generally doing something else. I may catch parts of other games, but a full game is rare.

Have not watched pro sports in years because team loyalty is a thing of the past. College sports is now much the same. Even seeing this trend in high school now

That’s too logical & complicated for people to think of lol

And what’s funny is the same people who call the kids quitters for leaving, are the same ones who were bashing them endlessly while they were here...

They think these players suck & should never see the field, but then get mad at them for transferring lol

Baffles my mind why people have such a problem with a kid in his 20’s making his own decision for his own life smh
And, of course, sometimes the decision will work out and other times it will fail. I don't get why any of the fans get so caught up over this. From equity partners to day laborers, people bolt for better opportunities in the workplaces all the time. This is no different.

Every loser on here taking shots at 20 year olds that get one change to play college ball for 4 years are the same ones that get all upset when a coworker gets a raise and jump on LinkedIn to look for another job. But keep talking crap as though you wouldn't do something similar. Amazing the number of super honorable and loyal folks this board has......truly the best generation.

I’m on the side you do whatever you want and I’ll **** someone up if they take my guns away n rights away. So stereotypical of you.

Couldn't agree more. If they end up f'n up and making things worse for themselves it was their decision.

Lol - you saw guns and went from zero to 60.

I’m not advocating that they take guns away - not from law-abiding citizens. We have a right to bear arms under the constitution and I actually am glad we can own guns because otherwise only the criminals would have them. We have a lot of liberties under the constitution. A good number of those who were virulently bashing Rousseau for exercising his liberties cry plenty loud when their own liberties are at stake - guns, masks…

The portal should not even be open during the season. NCAA needs to change that.

If you want to quit the team mid-season or slack until you get kicked off, fine. But the NCAA shouldn't be dangling the portal option that makes leaving seem too easy.

But you can say that any time a kid leaves. If they bail in the summer, their still "quitting on their team" if that's the way you want to look at it.
I disagree with that. I feel it’s much worse when you are still playing games and in the football season v off-season. Still quit but stigma is worse for me.

Happens now. Many schools will effectively run off a player entering his junior year if he’s been passed up on the depth chart by younger players. Frees up a scholarship for the next recruiting cycle.

This is one reason some conferences went to multi-year scholarships, rather than one-year with annual renewal at the school’s option.

I get that. I guess I’m saying that if a person wants to feel offended by this, they can always criticize a kid no matter when they leave. The other thing is that the whole reason these kids want to leave mid-season is that they aren’t getting PT. In the end, I wish our coaches had done a better job with them and also that they had fought a little harder to get on the field.

I have no problem these kids jumping ship for them to play. College football for most is the last time they’ll ever play football. Everyone does what’s best for them.
