Pope and Lingaurd - PT

Two deepest positions on the team. Even with Richards being out, there's still a few guys buried on the depth chart.

This is what happens when you have good depth, as we do at RB/WR. Even 5*s have to wait their turn.

Hopefully in a couple of years we have this "problem" at every position.

I'm confused why they aren't on punt coverage though. It's maddening that we don't have our best athletes covering puts/kicks

It's a good thing when you don't have to rely on freshman at every position.

Lingard will get his reps... He's shown flashes of what he's capable of already... His time will come.... Homer is doing his thing and DeeJay is just a beast....

I'd like to see lo get some snaps in the second half when the opponents defense is getting tired.fresh legs make a difference.

@Stefan Adams or anyone else that would know. What has their attitude been like? Both were all world and neither are playing very much at all. I hope they keep their heads in the game and are ready for their opportunity and also they don't get an itch and transfer.

I just dont think every kid is going to cry and moan because they are not getting their immediate shot...
There is a lot of good things happening with the program...they should just continue to stay positive and
strengthen their craft.

Players get hurt all the time. Pope and Lingard will contribute a lot at some point in this season.

I would like to see Pope take over the KO's or Punt's so we can get DJ & JT a little rest and less chance of getting hurt from special teams

JT does not need to be on kick returns. It doesn’t fit for him and we risk injury every time. He looks great at punt return but nowhere close to that on kick returns. Get another freshmen back there with DJ.

He could do what James Jackson did relieving Edge when JJ was a youngster. Edge fcked them up and then JJ came in and busted a bunch of long runs.

Judging from Los HS tape he would be an animal at KR.

I would like to see Pope worked in at the Flanker. And, in motion. I’m not sure what you do in coverage against a fast-paced lineup of Cager/Wiggins/Hightower, Jordan, J. Thomas and Pope. ****, keep the RB in to chip and release. Thomas is going to get so much attention the second half of the season that, if we don’t move him around (and there isn’t a ton of evidence we would, but who knows), we’ll have to use him to clear out. A flanker running underneath will have nothing but green grass ahead.

In any case, if Thomas is at all hobbled this upcoming week, perhaps Pope will split some reps with Harley out of the slot. Pope massively stood out in Fall camp - in terms of acceleration and ability to run different routes.
