Was Mallory not utilized properly this year ... ie: should have gotten more playing time and more touches

or

Was Mallory's playing time/touches limited b/c he was poor at blocking and had suspect hands when targeted?

Regardless of the poll outcome I hope he improves next year and becomes a better blocker with better hands.

What an indictment on staff not giving this kid more touches. He’s had 7 games where he had zero catches and I can’t recall many targets to him either in those games..enos needs to gtfo

Poll should ask does current coaching staff know how to use the personnel the have.
Exactly, the answer is both. He’s a glorified wide receiver at this point and can’t be counted on to do anything more than chip, if that.

However, put him in the slot or out wide and you can take advantage of his elite speed for his height.

Can put him in 00/10/01 personnel with Brevin as the tight end in 01 and it’d be scary. But that’s asking too much of this staff.

He is a weapon in the passing game but needs to be a little more consistent catching the ball

Needs to learn to block and needs to bulk up. Time for Feeley to put in some work

And has to work on his hands. Board forgets he has dropped quite a few this year

Otherwise we has chance to be total beast jr/sr year if he develops. (Notice key phrase "if he develops", not something our current staff knows much about)

It was both. He didnt play because his blocking is suspect af. However he was also used improperly. He should never have been used as a lead blocker on any play. He shouldn't have been asked to play with his hand in the ground. He should been used much like we used Njoku.

They blew him up at the line and then bracketed him in the 2h on top of the critical 3rd down drop he had.
I realize he had a bad drop but at the same time spilt him out, doesn’t always have to be inline

The third down "drop" would have been a helluva catch as Mallory was covered by multiple defenders. Williams should never have tried to force it to Mallory that play.

Nah that play wasn't the drop I referenced .... that was more Hail Mary than anything.

The drop was when he was dragging across the middle to the bottom of the TV screen and was in easy position to get the first and he butter-fingered it.

I thought Mallory was going to have a breakout year with Brevin getting lots of attention but he was underwhelming whether by his play, the scheme, or both. Hopefully he takes the next step next year.
