Pls don't crush me for uttering this heresy, but...

This is the worst case scenario and even then, you at least bring in a promising prospect from the portal to compete.

I don’t think it’s going to come down to that though. We’re going to get a tested starter.

...are we 100% certain we can't roll the dice with Luke and Dereon? Not suggesting it's optimal, but I wouldn't be over the moon upset if we only brought in a serviceable backup or a QB who wasn't guaranteed a spot for less money and then, shifted the other money into grabbing a coup;le of game breakers at different positions.

Having said that, I'm sure Mario has someone secretly who will be greeat for us. The ONLY scenario I don't want is for us to blindly give the reins to Williams. If we don't get someone great out of the portal, I say - let's let Luke and Dereon fight it out and bring in a new QB coach if need be.

One former player that attends practices regularly has stated that HE believes Luke could be the starting QB as he has looked really good with the 1's in practice. Luke played HS ball in class 7A in Georgia, going 13-2 in 2023, winning the State Championship and a #18 national ranking and then in 2024 going 15-0 for another State Championship and #1 national ranking, and named Georgia Mr. Football. Also won the deep ball accuracy event in the Elite 11 competition. This kid was one of the best HS QB's in the country and has spent 12 months now practicing with legit national championship caliber athletes. Luke is likely better than 98% of portal QB's.

1 - it's not your money, so don't be so concern about ir
2 - QB is the premier position for game break players
3 - Why do you want to put a final four team in the hands of a bunch of unexperienced QBs?
4 - No, we don't need to give young QBs a chance when every year that will be exp QBs in the portal for us to pick up. G5 and lower P5 programs are the farm system for QBs nowadays

Mario will not blindly give the QB job to anybody. He has his targets. I seriously doubt he strikes out.

I feel like we dont know what DC is till they see him on green tree, when you start hearing coaches mention a dude then you know you have a dude. Other than that they become depth and stick around or just transfer.

But Carr of Notre Dame and Sayin of OSU were in the Elite 11 one year before Luke. And the Freshman who just transferred to Oklahoma State was very good, albeit, against lesser competition.
