The only real criticism from the Ohio State game was Miami’s final drive of the first half. Dawson got a little greedy and tried to pad pad the score and ended up getting knocked out of field goal range. You would’ve thought a punt down at the one or two would’ve ended the half but Miami played a little soft, or Ohio State figured something out, and managed to get in position for what ended up a missed long field goal.If he had not taken the timeout & we held them to a punt people would've been criticizing him for not being aggressive. I think he made the right choice even if he didn't get the result we wanted
In hindsight, Miami should’ve run some clock, get about 10 more yards and let Carter Davis try a field goal. That could’ve potentially been a 17-0 halftime lead. Dawson admitted he got a little cute and greedy.
I did not have a problem with the timeout late in the first half. OSU was finding a rhythm and Mario probably felt the timeout would help the defense regroup. As dominant as Miami was on defense, Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate can score on one big pass at any time.
