Debating some of our fans on Twitter talking about the Pinstripe Bowl being must-win as Miami is 1-10 in bowl games (dating back to 2007) and hasn't won in the post-season since 2016, where Mark Richt beat West Virginia his first season.
This game with Rutgers is now a glorified scrimmage as Miami is down to a third-string quarterback and will see over a dozen starters either declaring for the draft or transferring out—a slew of second- and third-string kids out there playing against the Scarlet Knights' first string, who will treat this New York bowl game like their natty.
Outside of there being no significant difference between 7-6 and 8-5—the old adage of getting a post-season win and riding that momentum into spring; the portal also kills that as so many bodies are going out and new ones coming in, a December bowl game will be ancient history by the time a new-look roster suits up for a spring game in April.
If you're not in the Playoffs the post season is meaningless; as even the NY6 games lost their luster and aren't enough to get big named kids to stick around to participate.
