Players Who Need to Go

Be careful. It's very difficult to evaluate players when they are playing in a bad scheme with bad coaching. I would give pretty much everyone on the offensive side of the ball a pass for this year. Some of these guys could leave and magicallly look good somewhere else.
Lol They would leaving because Mario doesn’t want them here.

Half this roster will be gone and it’s going to be names that people vouched for on this board. Mario doesn’t want them here.

That article about Mario not believing in the players is true. It was leaked and they know who leaked it.
You can’t literally replace 42 players in one cycle. At best, we would be at probation level next year if that were to happen

This is a solid roster - no reason we shouldn’t be a 6-3/7-2 team with proper coaching. Worst thing we can do is completely purge this roster and replace them with lesser talent just because.

The bulk of the problem is the coaching staff not the players. Sure I could see 5-15 players leaving but if you start doing massive purges you risk leaving your team without talent. And with this coaching staff that could translate to a 1-2 win season.

That explains why most of the players have quit.
Honestly, I think it proved to Mario that he was right about them to begin with. If I heard that’s what my coaches thought and I wanted to be here then I would be playing with even more effort and doing more to prep. Obviously last night we saw who wanted to be here (Brown, X, Henry, Mesidor, etc) and who didn’t.

Garcia
Thad
Knighton
Brinson
Key Smith
Redding
Seymore
Chris Washington
Rodriguez
McClaughlin

Harvey
Flagg
Keontra Smith
Huff
Ivey
Blades
Couch
Curtis
Stevenson
Kitchens
James Williams
Avante Williams

I’m sure there’s a bunch more. Feel free to add.

A lot of these bums have lost to FSU twice, Middle Tennessee State, Duke twice, La Tech, Ga Tech, and FIU. Bunch of soft losers on this team.

We been doing lists like this since 05. We championing the incoming recruits then we try to run them off if they don’t meet our loft expectations. Man, we did the same with Kyle Wright, Charlie Jones, and Kylan Robinson.

Everyone is wired differently. Some guys will fight until the end and others will just go into a shell and quit.

Man those kids will go somewhere else and ball out. This is a coaching issue not a player issue. Especially when you are talking about **** near the whole roster
Haven’t seen one kid that left out ball out anywhere: to see how bad this roster is and was our all world WR from last year didn’t even get drafted

I would say we simply don't know if it's the players or not because the coaching is so abysmal. That's the problem. It's very possible that the talent isn't there AND the coaching sucks and we just don't know because the players aren't being taught the right techniques, and, more importantly, the right behaviors because there's no leadership from the coaching staff. We do not know how good or bad the players truly are because their performances exist in the shadow of a malignant coaching environment.

Bingo!

It's the coaches job to get the players to buy in. Gattis has been a complete disaster. He's an ******* and his stuff doesn't work so the players said **** it.

It's been mentioned that the staff has a bunch of big names, but this isn't fantasy football. They have to work together as well.

Performance wise we are below probation level right now. Much like certain players who are a disgrace to the uniform right now, I can't even muster up the effort for a decent rant, it isn't worth it.

We have a bad team. Everyone knows this. But not so bad that we should have lost to MTSU, Duke and FSU by 42. We've got coaches who are determined to make them adjust to their schemes and not vice versa. And I can guarantee Mario has broken these guys' spirit which is why they don't give two *****. We aren't 42 points worse than FSU. 35-33 nail biter loss - I could live with that. 45-3 to that FSU team means our guys didn't care. At all.

Mario doesn't believe in out scheming another team. He wants to line up and physically dominate the other team, and that is years away from happening at Miami if it ever happens at all. That's why he's so super focused on his OL recruits. And I get it, but it's not all about physicality.

Good coaches get the best out of what they have Mario, and your staff has not done that this season.

Nope. The Miami Hurricanes had to regress first before improving. There was no way Mario should be expected to change the "culture" in one season. These other teams with first year coaches like USC, Oregon, Duke, TCU are just getting lucky and inherited loaded rosters.

Ok, obviously, I am being sarcastic. Although Mario didn't inherit a "loaded" roster, he did inherit some key pieces to have a successful season. He also supposedly got an "elite" coaching staff. I have seen no improvement anywhere. I mean, I guess the penalties and tackling improved a little for the first half of the season, but now we are back to ****** tackling and a ton of penalties. This is unacceptable for the new $80 mil coaching staff.
Talent wise, much of the team is the same as the one that was absolutely obliterated by Alabama a year ago. The blue chip ratio may be positive, but we exposed that day just how
Much of a difference there was between an elite team and Miami. Schemes aside, there was a lot of talent acquisition that needed to be done.

What happens if a bunch of the players that suck are still on the team next year & they continue to get playing time?
Ah yes the “seniority issue” that has plagued us forever. And then the young guys get in and suck. And then they become the “seniority issue”

i think it all comes down to whether mario is a fraud or ~fraud. if he's the latter, which i hope, then at worst nothing that happens this year matters, and at best the guys who stick around, learning to become resilient and tough will become leaders and better football players going forward.

mario says he wants to build a championship program and has a plan to do so. if he really does, then the benefits will clearly outweigh the costs - this embarrassing season.

thus far he's done a superb job recruiting, a pretty terrible job assembling a coaching staff, and has failed at flipping the switch on this program's awful and long-running culture problems.

i suspect it would take multiple seasons like this one to have ill effects on his ability to recruit. luckily for him he has a near unlimited budget to rectify his hiring mistakes. whether he can change the culture of the football program i'm less sure of than i was when he was hired, but i sure hope he can.

this year has sucked and i've grumbled and complained along with everyone else watching mario & co coach this team, but in the long run if he's the program builder he says he is the dogsh!t football we've seen this year matters not.

this program has been sick for nearly 20 years. it not great that it's currently gotten even sicker this year. but, the folks with the money say they're gonna spend it, and mario seems darn sure that he knows how to cure this program. i truly hope he isn't full of ****.
