Players wanted Diaz

This whole thing about the community loving Diaz puzzles me. If all the kids love him then why was he not killing it on recruiting trail locally?
It does not add up. Yah we love you, but I am going somewhere else. Makes no sense. The only thing that makes sense is even defensive players saw how bad the offense was and wanted no part of the program.

Larry Coker ring any bells??

Jesus Diaz should have been the last fall back option if all the big fish stuck us the rod and after 2 weeks the only options was Mario and Diaz to which I would have said **** that 10mill buyout

I’m not even sure that the players wanted Diaz. This seems like nothing more than the OP’s speculation.

I think the administration was simply lazy and didn’t want to do a long, hard coaching search.

The Oregon players went to the ad and begged him for MARIO. A lot of people here want him now.

The fans may be ****ed but all I read about is how excited the players and recruits are with the hire.. Sounds like he’s made a huge impression in the community.

Great lets do what the players want. They won't be loyal to those that recruited them, they will only go with what is uncomfortable and difficult.😂

Remember, Dorsey and the boys went and advocated for Coker after Butch because they knew he wouldn't get in the way for their last few years, not because he was the best thing for the future of the program after they were gone.

Players understandably have a tough time being objective. Manny has all the traits that make a good head coach...just no experience...he better learn pretty quick now, and it better begin with pleading with James and the BOT to get out the wallets for assistants.

Players always want to keep the coaches they know and are comfortable with.

Like any company, you can't let the employees pick the boss, especially after a poor year.
