Players or Coaches?

I re-watched the game, and man I tell you there are a lot of players on this Miami team that can't block or tackle. Its the reason why screens don't work and why against good teams the running backs don't have a lot of success.

With that said I still think we need some new coaching blood with different coach philosophies and motivating techniques

Five years in if the players can't perform then it's the responsibility of the guy that recruits them.
 
I've been moderating various Canes websites for the better part of 15 years now. I can say with near certainty, when someone starts a thread with their first post they are almost always a troll. I cannot recall a single time when that wasnt the case.


That said, I'll play along.


A lot of our players were too slow to get to their blocks on those screens. Some of that is recruiting, some of it is poor player development and some of it is poor personnel decision making. But ALL of it is coaching.
 
It's on the coaches to teach these dudes to block and tackle correctly, to take the right lines, etc.

If we don't have players that can do that, it's on the coaches to recruit players who can.

if they can't recruit players who can do that, it's on the coaches to modify the playcalling on offense to eliminate the need for a lot of downfield blocking to set up, like screens.

Players have changed , coaches haven't . Same **** show.

Interesting observation. Probably the best and only insight we will get from this thread.

I'm guessing that this that "GoldenGirlz" moran all over again.
 
Who is responsible for putting the players in position? Whose job is it to teach the kids how to tackle? Yes the players didn't execute but these kids are regressing and didn't take these angles or tackle with this form in High School.

The overall problem with the program is the coaches

.... but the players had a part to play on that loss . Deon bush had the worst game of his career and could have single handedly stopped two touchdowns imo. The o line had no fire and got man handled all night as well

You realize that the coaches job is to teach high school kids how to play with proper fundamentals? It's basically the entire premise of Butch Davis' tenure, which is why he churns out a billion NFL dudes.

Our coaches are too busy evaluating operational procedures and inventing nonsense alignments to actually work on the **** that matters.
 
It's a combination of both coaching and learning..But if you're teaching the wrong thing it becomes even harder to learn..
