Having a drop off is one thing, but the effort on that last Pitt TD was awful. There was no one guarding the WR that scored.

It was also head scratching that we ran 3 straight plays from our 1/2 yard line and gifted them a safety. They were stacking the box on all 3 plays. You have to let Nickel throw if you’re going to give him playing time.

You want to bring in the backup off the bench cold and have him start chucking it around the field from the one yard line?

I didn’t love the run calls necessarily but I’m fine not running an air raid with our backup from our own goal line.

He needs real game experience, not just garbage time reps against FAMU and Central Michigan.

I’d argue that backed up against your goal line against a good defense is real game experience.

I get what you are saying, we won’t know what we have until he gets the chance to cut it loose against legit competition. I just don’t think our own 1 yard line is the time to test that.
