Disagree on that last sentence...the fact Cristobal has spent a significant amount of time less than 50 feet away from Saban tells me something good must have rubbed off on him. If nothing else than by osmosis and sheer dumb luck he'd be better than Golden.

With that being said...we need an experienced proven coach here. The time for taking chances would not be now.

Pitt has narrowed their coaching search down to Doc Holliday and Pat Narduzzi. They didn't even interview Golden, because the President said they wanted to make a big splash with next head coach & AD hirings.

So UM is stuck with Al Golden and the only other school option out there would be Rutgers but they are not in financial position to both fire Kyle flood pay his buyout, then pay AG's buyout from Miami an also pay Golden more than $2 million a year. They paid Greg Schiano $2.3 million a few years back, but that was stretching the budget big time for them.

Kyle Flood is making $950K now as Head coach at Rutgers, an just got a 2yr contract extension back in September.

So Pitt is off the Table an it is looking like Rutgers is an 2 year holding pattern before they would offer Golden. Unless UM fired him then taking a pay cut to be at Rutgers wouldn't hurt Golden as much since he would have UM's buyout money to supplement his income for a few years.

LOL - we will waive his buyout. Unless the Admin is as insane and depraved as Caligula, they won't ask a dime from any school that wants the misfortune of hiring Al away from us.

If there are reports that we demand $ from any school for Al, I'm done done. It would beyond idiocy.

I'd love to know the truth in regards to this as well...

If it ever got out or became known that Golden is still here because OUR ******* IDIOTIC ADMINISTRATION didn't want to back down on the buyout I'd be done as well.
 
No where in that article did it say they've narrowed the search. Hiring Narduzzi/Holiday isn't a big splash either.

Schiano takes Rutgers to SIX BOWL games..That's a coach..Can't believe Golden's not on their wish list of coaches with his pipeline to South Florida.
