Pitt has a plan to lock Mali down…

Pitt is 113th in the country in yards per attempt allowed
92nd in the country in completion percentage allowed
122nd in the country in yards passing allowed
82nd in the country in passer rating allowed

They're very much like us, facing a lot of passes because teams can't run on them, but their per pass numbers are way worse than ours. If anyone in our secondary said they were going to shut down an opposing receiver, especially one as ridiculous as Mali, how loud would you laugh? And they're even worse than we are.

Mali and Mensah are going to have a field day this week.

They have been OK rushing the passer, they're 21st in sacks per game, but when the QB gets the ball off, he completes it and it goes for big yardage.

They have allowed 24 passing plays of 20+ yards already, good for 126th in the country.
12 of 30+ yards, good for 123rd
And EIGHT of 40+ yards, which is 2nd to last in the entire country. Only West Virginia has allowed more, in the whole nation.

All this while facing Miami of Ohio, UCF, UNC, Boston College, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech. Grunkmeyer at VT has been good, he got them for 450 yards.

Miami (OH) averages 213 a game in the air, they got Pitt for 262
UCF averages 191 a game, they got Pitt for 186
Syracuse is averaging 294, they got Pitt for 212
VT is averaging 293, they got Pitt for 434
North Carolina is averaging 203, they got Pitt for 249
Boston College is averaging 217, they got Pitt for 295

All of those teams except for Cuse and VT are in the bottom third in the country in passing yards per game. Miami is 5th.

Not only is it impossible to stop him, but to do so you gotta commit more players downfield - which fine, lets just pound them with the run game then. Nothing is more fun than just beating a team to death when they know whats coming and they can't stop it. Also, they didn't exactly do a good job last year on him.

Keep Mensah's uni clean and everything will be fine.
