Pinckney hitting his stride?

Pink has great instincts, and I love him as a player...but before the FSU game he hadnt made alot of noise this year. The season isnt over yet, so we will see. Dude is in his 3rd year removed from HS. He needs to develop more and get another year in the weight room. Size isnt everything, but if he leaves early, his measurables wont be anything crazy. If he does leave because he's tired of school, that alone is not a good decision to leave early.

I love Shaq too...but neither guy, so far hasnt done enough this year to warrant leaving early. Learn from Norton, Kaaya, Yearby, and dozens of other players who have left early and regretted it.

Love his attitude. How in the world does he fall down after picking off Frenchy? He wasn’t pushed, didn’t dive for the ball, wasn’t stumbling when he caught the ball. Turf monster? Not a criticism, I thought it was funny.
noticed that on the replay, could've easily gotten the house call but he fell. I'm happy we scored right after but I wish he took it back, would've been happier for him

Pink is a nice player in bunches. He is just not a consistent player. When you think of LBers who have gone in the first (DJ, Vilma, Roquan, Myles, Willis), these are guys that are consistently around the ball, making a difference. If he can string the FSU and last year's Duke performance the rest of the year, he'll possibly sneak in the first.

It's the difference between being Vilma or Spence. Both are nice LBs. One was just a more consistently around the ball

Michael Pinckney has elite play recognition, closing speed, tackling, and hitting power. Im not saying he’s going to get drafted In the 1st(2nd or 3rd at worst)but there aren’t many WLBs better.
He definitely has that Hurricane linebacker attitude love it!

He is a play maker and has a nose for making impact tackles for loss or turnovers. He's not consistent though. He doesn't make the routine play enough. Diaz gives his linebackers carte blanche to guess and he guesses correct often. (Clearly, he's paying attention during film and not just lucky)

Not sure about his NFL prospects though. I don't think he's big enough to play a traditional linebacker role and I don't think he's fluid enough in space to be one of these new "nickle linebackers" we see in the pro game a lot now. I love him as a college linebacker though.

Right after that INT, Brock Huard says "big time players make big time plays in big games". So next time you want to complain about the announcers for the upcoming game, give my boy a pass.

Also, nice game Pinck.

EDIT: Also, also, after JTs return in the 4th Huard waits till that other clown stops yelling and just says "baller".
After Homer trucks Westbrook: "how do the shoulder pads taste?"
My only problem with Brock, and it's a big one, is that he goes out of his way to cover for the officials when they make a bad call. On the horse collar on Dallas that was picked up, he bent himself into knots explaining how it wasn't a penalty because Dallas wasn't pulled exactly backwards.

Here is NCAA article 9-1-15: "All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside back collar of the shoulder pads or jersey, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling the ball carrier down."

Now even though Deejay was taken down backwards from the horse collar (even if not exactly backwards) the rule clearly states that it is also a penalty if the player is taken down from the side. If your hand goes inside the jersey or the shoulder pads from any angle except exactly the front, it's a 15 yard penalty. Huard made that BS up out of thin air, and he does that a lot.

What if, after explaining away the flag, he had said “baller”? Then it would fine right?

I get your point, I just thought it was funny that he said that stuff after Vilma played it so straight the week before.

i posted this on another thread.

there was one play on defense that has not been focused on enough, in my opinion. it was the play of the game! it is Pinckney's deflection of Francois' throw over the middle with 11 minutes to go. FSU's #6 the TE would have likely scored and the momentum would have shifted. it was huge. as they say, the game usually comes down to a few plays. this is certainly one of them.

Oh I'm not a bash Huard guy. He's fine by me. Nothing great, but fine. Just a few things he does that irks me, but at least he gets our players' names right. On FSU's first TD when he didn't struggle to correctly call Bandy in coverage...that was a huge improvement over Ware and others who try to call our games without even bothering to read the game day program.

Agree 1000%. Saw this on the rewatch. If he doesn't tip this ball....the complexion of the game changes bc FSU scores. Huge play!
