No expert either but there's still all the interior stuff like drywall, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc. Plus add in permitting, furnitures and fixtures, and just how notoriously inefficient these things are and January is probably a stretch.

They probably could get it done before August though but it doesn't make sense since it wouldn't line up with the academic calendar. This is probably the biggest thing. No point in opening in January and reshuffle a whole bunch of kids mid-year.

Construction will be done months before move in. As with the prior dorms where Hecht was located, they plan to open for the new school year, regardless of when construction wraps up (and I believe it was early in the calendar year the last time too).

Sounds like construction on the new football facility and IPF expansion could begin as soon as early 2026. Still confused about choosing to resurface the practice field now if the plan is to expand the IPF and annex the soccer field/track.

Thought They said it was this summer ??

If the plan is to expand the IPF 30 yards then that's cutting into the remaining space on GT, where there is already room enough for just one full lenght field.

Will the team use the soccer field for practice this season?

I have degrees from both UM (undergrad) and UF (MBA). I paid $20K total for UM (including living expenses), zero for UF. Only took out loans for law school tuition (Fordham), and I had a scholarship that paid for a third of that.

Now, I qualified for the Pell Grant in addition to academic scholarships, so obviously I didn’t have money sitting around to invest while I skipped college or took a gap year or two. However, I firmly believe that every kid’s situation is different, and the type of kid who IS in that situation may need the degree only as a checkmark because they already have the connections to get the job they want. Their family also isn’t concerned about UM’s high tuition. (Some of this is also industry-dependent.)

For me, I came from a family where it was a big deal to make it past ninth grade. I needed the degree, but I wasn’t paying for it.

You go to Belen?

Relax.

It's pretty funny that people think that we use two 120-yard fields fully and simultaneously. ****, you can even see that the field on the right doesn't have end zones.

We will be fine. The 120-yard field on the left will be used. The partial field on the right, as well as the surface inside of the track, can be used for special teams practice and positional break-out drills.

I'm perfectly calm.

Assuming the IPF gets expanded to the south by at least 30 yards, won't we need to annex the soccer field to have adequate outdoor practice space?

What in the **** is this "annex" bull****? We already own it.

No. We won't need to "annex the soccer field" to have adequate outdoor practice space.

Won't you be able to tell us that? I'm sure they'll reach out to you about the grass situation.

So football owns the soccer stadium/track?

Wouldn't an IPF that's expanded 30 yards south mean that we can't fit even one full length field that runs north/south?

Why do you think I'm so eager to uncover these hidden secrets?

Expanding the IPF shrinks an already cramped practice field even further.

I don't see how we'd have adequate outdoor practice space without taking over the soccer field.

You need to see a doctor, because you are seriously near brain-death.

First, no sport "owns" any fields. The Athletic Department does.

It has been stated, many times, that the IPF field runs along the canal. The EXTENSION of said IPF field will only impact the Greentree field closest to the canal. Thus we will ALWAYS have a 120-yard Greentree field. Plus a slightly smaller one along the canal.

For the short-term, you can move special teams drills (kicking and punting) to a bunch of different places IF YOU NEED TO DO SO. You could punt at Mark Light. You could punt at the IM Fields. You could punt inside the track if soccer practice is scheduled for a different time.

And all you have to do to practice kicking FGs and XPs is dig a hole and insert an upright.

So chill out on losing 30 yards off of one 100-yard no-end-zone field. It's not the end of the world.

You know what? It had not occurred to me, or I had not realized, that the expansion would only cover the field along the canal. I assumed they would extend the whole thing out 30 yards.

So we'll have one full length indoor field, one full length outdoor field, an abbreviated outdoor field, and that space inside the IPF that gets used by OL/DL during drills.

I appreciate you setting me straight here.

I Wouldn't worry about it. Pretty sure it's covered. Sucks for the intramural soccer and flag football people I guess. But we got plenty of room around campus they can go play on.

The strip mall next to the Gables One tower is also getting torn down for more off campus housing.
