Would most posters be content with a 9-1 record but winning the last four games by 1pt each?
I am P-O'd, about our current state ... but would live with mediocre wins.

If there were signs of progress, even a close loss is acceptable, the problem is we are regressing week to week.

That was pretty much the team last year until their mediocre play caught up with them towards the end. When you string together a bunch of ugly wins with this level of overall talent, it’s pretty much saying something is wrong, not that the team is gritty... It didn’t look like the staff, especially on offense, was making any kind of adjustments last year, and the staff as whole seemed to double down on what they were doing when they won, regardless of how ineffective somethings were.

Though I always want to win, losing seems to be the only way the coaches (especially in this coaching regime) will feel any pressure to make any kind of logical changes. The issues run deep, and winning by small margins against garbage teams is like fools gold. Seems like fans and coaches a like were attracted to it.

Edit: so to answer your question... if we had a progressive coaching staff willing to make changes, I’d be okay with close wins. But we don’t, so what I’m seeing now is utterly discouraging.

Yes. Winning begets more winning. Winners find ways to win close games. Winners Win. Our dudes are too used to losing right now. Unacceptable!

at 9-1 we'd be the smartest kid on the short bus.

The Coastal is without a doubt the worst Power five division in memory. And FSU is having their worst season in decades.

This is not a far-fetched statement as we are arguably 5-6 plays away from being 9-1 .

--We outgained Virginia by 104 yds and lost by 3.One good bounce here wins this game
--Though we were outplayed at BC, it was a 2 score loss that could have turned on a couple of plays
-- Duke, we outgained by 121 yds but fumbled the game away
--GT, we played even on the field but again turnovers did us in.

We are what we are, a 5 loss team and we deserve to be a 5 loss team.

Winning the Coastal and playing Clemson this year would have given us false hope and made us look like we were close to being back. The 5 losses are more representative of who this team is and I'd rather have it this way than the delusion of being 9-1 or 8-2.
