Phillips and Bolden are definitely gone

Phillips will have more film than Rousseau who blew out a knee prior to freshman season,, then played half a season and is projected as a high pick. Talk about one and done. I’m curious to see how the NFLs drafting weighs potential vs proven commodities.

Good luck to Bolden if he leaves after season. His play the last 3-4 games has been less than stellar.

Phillips is playing him self into the first/second round consideration, he will test off the charts and has put together some great film. Now he has the production to go with it as well with 10.5 tackles for loss 5 sacks in just 8 games. With 4 games left he very well could pad those stats. People got to remember outside of Rousseau this is a VERY weak dend draft class.

bolden needs to regain his form, hasn’t been playing nearly as well as he was through the first 5 games or so in the season.

Philips is showing something Bolden is not. Both kids have not played a football season in many years. Bolden is hurt and broken down, not injured, hurt. Philips is getting stronger. Both would benefit from another year here.

Both need to come back. Neither has done anything to catapult themselves into the first round. Coaching and scheme is holding them back IMO.

Philips is probably a top 3 round guy right now in my opinion. If he finishes the year how he played last night, he's definitely a top 2 rounder at least, unless the concussions just scare the **** out of the nfl.

I mean the guy plays incredibly hard all game and he'll destroy the combine so teams will love him. He's raw but a freak and can be coaches up.
No

Foolish take if you think that’s not the case. Get over thinking phillips isn’t ready for the league. He’s clearly a different breed. IF he continues this trajectory he’s on this season he assuredly will get drafted high

That’s okay, if there’s two positions where we’ve stacked talent it’s DE and Safety. If they don’t want to be here we don’t need to beg. Let them go in the 5th round and fight for a roster spot. We have elite athletes buried at the safety spot. And I’m more than happy to let these young DEs eat.

I see both as probably 3rd round at best this year mostly on potential. Both should come back imo because they each could get into the 1st round with more consistency and Bolden needs to fill out his frame a bit.
A lucid take on this thread. And I think 3rd is a big time reach for Bolden right now.

The only argument for Phillips to leave for me is if he's just in panic mode about his prior injuries and wants to cash in regardless of future considerations.

Bolden? He looks awful. Phillips puts together one big game and now he's a first rounder? Only at CIS!

I saw a couple of NFL guys talking positively about Phillips as a prospect. so I think he will have a tough decision to make at the end of the season. I think he can entice a few NFL teams especially if he continues to play like last game, his motor is relentless, but I'm not impressed with his pass rush ability outside of the VATech game so I have no idea what kind of range he will have in the draft, my guess would be RD 3/4; He could test very well, could put a few more good games on tape, but his injury history and lack of moves probably will put a ceiling on how high he can go.

Bolden has put out enough bad tape this year to be a day 3 pick, especially on a devalued position and unimpressive frame, it's a shame because he was playing lights out the first 3 games.

First round, really? So, coaching & scheme are causing Bolden to get out of position, take bad angles, miss tackles and a couple brain farts per game? He came on before he got hurt last year and early this season, but his play the last 3-4 games won't get him drafted. Have to be a special breed to go in the first round as a safety. Love him as a Cane, but he'll never see the first round.

I agree. I still think 3rd is slightly generous. As you said “at best”

Some of yall don't understand NFL evaluations. Each player has been good, neither dominant. Look at Garvin, where did he go? Late round. Phillips has injury record and Bolden seems like a backup in the league to me. Either one might go undrafted
Truth right here

Both guys are talented, but BOTH guys need another year of tape

I get what you're trying to say but you're quite the optimist on Bolden imo. He looks like a back-up on a good college team to me. Based on what we've seen the past 3-4 weeks, he won't have more than a cup of coffee on a practice squad on his way to a normal 9-5.

Bolden is skinny as ****. Rail thin. Probably banged up. He needs the weight room. And also needs to learn how to wrap up. Hall is a sure tackler but he’s playing tentative. He needs to cut it loose and knock someone tf out.

Phillips will test well. My prediction is he finishes the season with 7 sacks and is a third rounder provided we play all our games
