Bain and Mesidor both had great games.
Beck finished the game throwing for 206 yards and two touchdowns while completing 20-of-31 passes. He was sacked just once on the day. PFF gave Beck a 72.3 passing grade for his efforts against a talented Notre Dame defense. According to PFF, Beck was under pressure on only four drop backs and went 2-of-3 for 48 yards and two touchdowns. His passing grade was a 78.7 during those situations. Beck got the ball out in an average time to throw of 2.39 seconds and committed zero turnover worthy plays on the night.
Daniels made a massive play just before halftime, reeling in a one-handed 20-yard touchdown to give the Hurricanes a 14-7 lead. Daniels finished the day with 46 receiving yards while catching all five of his targets in an efficient effort against a talented Notre Dame secondary. Daniels was matched up against excellent Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore and found a way to make plays.
Scott was ultra dependable while playing the nickel for Miami on Sunday night, totaling one tackle and two pass break-ups on the day. Scott did not miss a tackle on the day and he was targeted six times in coverage, allowing one reception for 12 yards.
Bissainthe finished the day with three tackles and one tackle for loss. According to PFF, Bissainthe did not miss a tackle and he was targeted one time in coverage, allowing one reception for five yards. A solid effort from the veteran linebacker.
Scott made a massive play early in the game, forcing a fumble by wide receiver Malachi Fields on a tunnel screen that came his direction. Scott finished the day with two tackles. Scott did not miss a tackle on the day.
Mauigoa earned a 77.9 run blocking grade and a 59.8 pass blocking grade while allowing two pressures and one sack. Mauigoa was excellent with generating push all night against a stout Notre Dame defense.
Mesidor finished the night with five tackles and 1.5 sacks—and came up huge down the stretch when the Hurricanes needed some pass rushing punch. According to PFF, Mesidor generated two pressures and did not miss a tackle. The 78.0 pass rushing grade from Mesidor was the best on the team.
The reclassified true freshman showed star potential on Sunday night, catching six passes for 82 yards and one touchdown. Toney started the scoring for UM on the night with a 28-yard touchdown reception. Toney was targeted ten times to lead the team and he converted five first downs with also led the team. Toney also forced three missed tackles with the ball in his hands and generated 40 yards after catch.
Brown was excellent on Sunday night, playing a key role in generating a Rueben Bain interception in the second half that provided three points from the offense. Brown forced a quick pass to the perimeter to be broken up and the ball to be popped up in the air, allowing for the interception. Brown did not miss a tackle and allowed one reception for nine yards on the day. He earned an 89.9 coverage grade.
