PFF College Football Team of the Week

Is there a separate example of CIS/Canes Media seemingly overrating a prospect ("should be a 5 star") and actually almost underselling how great the player is. We've talked crazy before but I haven't seen us be as right as we've been on Bain. That dude is excellence we haven't seen in a while.

Pivotal game of our season and we had to rely on two true freshmen that answered the bell (to varying degrees)

Someone else mentioned this but I’ve not seen a true freshman impact us like this since Duke

Hopefully Bain holds up because we’ve asked way too much from him but it’s unreal what he’s doing

He should’ve been a 6 star

He should’ve been a 6 star
Might need to do two columns this week

Everytime i see Bain name pop up I get ****ed. Sign elite players and we won't have to fawn over freshmen being our best player. Got dammit man.

Do we have anyone close to Bain’s talent level in our 2024 class?

I know we have about 4-5 top 100 talents so far in JoJo/Carr/DT Jones/Patterson/Chance (fringe top 100).

We had several top 100 kids in the 2023 class as well and so far, Bain simply has separated himself, showing why he was heavily recruited by the cream of the crop of college football.

I don’t think so but Jones is a freak of nature if we can hang on to him. Our DT recruiting has been tough but this dude looks legit

My favorite player in the class might be the RB Riley. It’s a weaker RB class nationally but I haven’t seen anyone that’s flat out better than him

If JW or Kam leaves, Patterson will play early. I would expect Trader or Carr to play early. On the DL, Lightfoot should play early but will have to beat out Wayne, Kelly, Harvey for starting.

Blount would have been a potential plug in for Bain if Bain moves inside assuming LT leaves.

Overall, we're in firm agreement. For high schoolers, the odds are especially good if you are thorough in your targeting and evaluations, that you'll get close to what you expect at WR, RB and CB when you're talking about ELITE recruits. DE is probably a little harder to predict. But Bain's production and his highlights were other worldly. Kids like that with a good head on their shoulders are no brainers.

I'm not against hunting for hidden gems, especially along the OL and at QB, LB, TE and safety, even DT, as those positions are harder to predict in terms of college performance. That's where you need numbers and to be opportunistic in the portal.

I get the idea, but Bain is looking like one of the best players in the country regardless of class.
My thought is I'm tired of trying to recruit the next "Rousseau" and justifying that over the next "Bain". That will go over a lot of heads and it's nothing close to a slight at Rousseau.

100% get where you're going with that. But to be fair to GR, he was an animal as a HS senior. Just bloomed very late. A good network would have identified him during senior evals.... Anyway, you're point is we all knew about the Bosas by the time they were freshmen or sophomores in HS, and the Sammy Watkins, Amari Coopers, Pat Surtains and Tyson Campbells. Go get those kids.

The reality is that Mario is landing a lot of the leading South Florida kids. It's a down year this year. But he's getting his fair share. He just needs to keep doing it.

We need to be jotting down the names of those DT's and CB's. Look approachable considering the schools they play for.

Just sayin...
