Peter Ariz's tweet about James Coley

Aziz is a great gossip columnist. Loves to fling **** against the wall. If it comes true he lauds himself relentlessly, and his dopey followers eat it up. If he's wrong he disappears for a few days and takes advantage of the short attention span of the dopes who think he's got any better insight than anyone else.

He's playing the odds here. Vag Tech is horrible, and they're missing 3 of their best defenders. UM absolutely should light them up. Doesn't make Coley a sudden genius. Just means we did what we should have been doing.

For some idiots 'doing what your supposed to' = 'big-time'.

Same kid who thinks he is good at basketball and also thinks J.R. Smith is a great basketball player. Though I do agree with him about tonight.

Maybe Coley really is an offensive genius, and he was trolling in all those other games and uses Coley for something other than a screen this game. And we get a first down as a result. Then punt three plays later.

For young canes fans in the 90s and early 2000s we had Ferman, Grassy, Bluestein...we had info from the team and, for better or worse, some attempts at journalism. Peter is a glorified Facebook update for recruits who want to push their own agenda. He has no substance and severely lacks insight into actual football. Between him and Odoidoi, I weep for the young Cane fan looking for info.

Wait a second. Not heading up the Coley camp, but the offense was dumbed down against Louisville with a true freshman quarterback - presumably on orders from the head coach. Can't put the whole blame for that fiasco. And against Georgia Tech, we hardly ever had the ball, especially in the second half. We had one possession the entire third quarter.

Major complaint with play calling is lining up without a tight end in key third down situations, even after Walford has enjoyed success. And baffled by the notion that Stacey Coley has entered the witness protection program.

I don't know about tonight, but Coley gets way too much criticism on here.

Kaaya has gotten better as the season has progressed and our offense looks unstoppable at times.

No he doesn't. Coley has underachieved. He saw what GT was doing. Yet, 3 and outs on top of 3 and outs. Remember UL and Neb. Kaaya is working with what he was taught in HS. Next year we will see if he gets better. Coley is a mediocre play caller and deserves all the blame he gets.

I think you're living in an eternal September for the most part. There is far more content - analysis and reporting - available now, even if you do need to filter through some more crap to get there. In the early days there was simply less of both.

James Coley separates himself as a big-time play caller tonight.

That's a bold thing to say considering Bud Foster's game plan is to pressure Kaaya all night and force him to make turnovers. No matter how good the game plan is on offense if that O-Line don't protect tonight we have ZERO shot of winning. The slew of Captain Obvious's in here will say Defense and how many yards we will give up as we already didn't know our D sucks. This will 100% be on Kehoe tonight if Kaaya is in trouble. Nothing worse than a true freshman QB on the road under constant pressure!

His offense is statistically worse than Doritos D. Guys an amateur.

I think statistically he would be better if the offense had more opportunities on the field the time of Possession battle with majority of the time the defense is on the field isn't doing the offense any good.

And atleast I see fight in the offense they're some ****y ****'s knowing the only thing that will stop them is them.

The offense would also be statistically better if they converted better than 23.5% on 3rd down. Just sayin...

You not getting an argument from me there buddy ol pal can't argue with the truth

Coley is by far the worst coordinator on this team. His play calling is amateur.. At no point during a game does he ever set up plays, get into a rhythm or show the ability to stick to what is working. Don't confuse our talented offense with a well coached one.. It would be a mistake. As for Coach D, I think he's a solid X & O guy running a flawed scheme.

Defense: 62nd in FEI, 56th in DE, 64th in FD, the only thing our defense excels at is limiting Explosive Drives, but so what if we are 64th in FD if FD is the first down rate, the percentage of opponents drives giving up at least 1 first down or TD.

DFEI: Defensive FEI, the opponent-adjusted efficiency of the given team's defense.
DE: Defensive Efficiency, the raw unadjusted efficiency of the given team's defense, a measure of the actual drive success of its opponents against expected drive success based on field position.
FD: First Down rate, the percentage of opponent offensive drives that result in at least one first down or touchdown.

Offense: OFEI rank 11th, 34th raw OE rank, NINETY FIRST (91) in FD, the percent of drives resulting in at least 1 first down or TD. Now THAT is a joke.
But the offense and defense does have 1 thing in common. Al. 91st in getting at least 1 FD or TD, and 64th in giving them up. not going to win too often that way.
