It was also "Old school" to come home drunk and beat your wife or woman if she made you mad. That too was accepted . Yelling, screaming and cursing out kids does not make you a good coach. The problem has been that we've accepted that type of crap and called it "fire". That's B.S. A lot of incompetent a-holes try to hide incompetence behind a mask of yelling and screaming. Over the years kids have been conditioned to accept it as the punishment for "doing something wrong".
A Physics,Biology,Computer-Science,Finance,Economics or Mathematics professor doing that to any scholarship student at any university ..would have found his *** in the parking lot heading home to brush up his resumé on Monster.com. Don't even try to pass it off as "helping to build character" that too is B.S. Too many of these clowns make up their minds to behave like that so that the cameras and crowd can see what a "tough-guy coach" he is. It all boils down to one salient point of belief among these coaches ...you treat regular students as people...but you have free rein to treat athletic-scholarship students as brain-dead mules to be threatened, intimidated, humiliated and cursed at publicly.
