Pete et al. -- Who are the potential EEs?

That's 12 EE's. Since we signed 16 last year we can back date 9 EE's this year which means we can sign up to 37 players.

Not saying we will, but with 9 EE's, 37 is our cap.

Yes, but of those 16, I believe 4 of them were EE (Sandland, Sunny, Figs, Dobard)- doesn't that mean that those 4 count against the prior year?

Also, I don't think Naim Mustafaa is with the team any longer. Considering his very late addition I'm not sure how he's counted.

Naim enrolled and practiced. he is counted as an initial counter.

I believe there MAY be a clause that would allow him not to count...i will hunt that down.

15.5.1.5 Cancellation of Aid. Once an individual becomes a counter in a head-count sport (see Bylaws 15.5.2, 15.5.4, 15.5.5, 15.5.6, 15.5.7 and 15.5.8), the individual normally continues as a counter for the remainder of the academic year. However, if he or she voluntarily withdraws from the team prior to the first day of classes or before the first contest of the season(whichever is earlier) and releases the institution from its obligation to provide financial aid, the individual no longer would be considered a counter (see Bylaws 15.5.2.2 and 15.5.6.4.1).

15.5.6.4 Exceptions.
15.5.6.4.1 Voluntary Withdrawal. [FBS/FCS] An institution may replace a counter who voluntarily
withdraws from the football team by providing the financial aid to another student who already has enrolled
in the institution and is a member of the football squad. For this replacement to occur, the counter
must withdraw prior to the first day of classes or before the first game of the season, whichever is earlier,
and provide the institution with a signed statement releasing the institution from its obligation to provide
institutional financial aid and verifying the voluntary nature of the withdrawal. The institution may immediately
(beginning with the fall term) award the financial aid to a student-athlete who has been a member
of the team for at least one academic year and has not previously received athletically related financial aid.
A student-athlete who has not been a member of the team for at least one academic year may not receive
the financial aid during the fall term, but may receive it in a following term (e.g., spring semester, winter
quarter). (Revised: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)

Assume we have 74/75 current on the roster (Mustaffaa is gone).

http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/56616-O%92s-Eligibility-Chart-9-24-2013

Currently we're at 74/75 then you have 19 seniors leaving the program before attrition. That totals 55 or 56 scholarships in use. We can have 82 in total. So basically to stay at 82 total scholarships, we can sign and bring in 27/28 kids which is before any attrition. My guess is that 3 kids leave the program. So we will likely sign 30/31 total kids IMO. Of those 30/31 kids, 2-3 probably won't qualify (happens every year).

We have 28 current commits (includes Wynche, Griffin and Lockley), it would not shock me if 1-2 kids currently committed goes somewhere else. Here is my guess on who would be left (assuming we take 5 more players):

1. DT (Molton),
2. WR (Dixon),
3. RB ,
4. LB (Jackson, Young),
5. S

Don't forget we will likely have a couple of academic casualties in this class.

Two things; First, we can have 84 -- we need only reduce 1 scholie this year, although we must reduce 8 more at some other time (and may get credit for self-imposed reduction this year); and, Second, I count 29 commits, not 28., but I may be wrong.

You are correct, I was thinking they would keep it balanced. 3/3/3

It depends on a lot of things: 1) how stacked the talent is in the 2014/2015/2016 classes. If 2015 is a stacked class in sofla, you want as many schollies to hand out as possible. 2) attrition on the team, etc.

29 is our max, so we can probably take 31 or 32.

How is 29 our max? The EEs count against last year's class and last year's class was 16.

Every year we do this and every year its the same. We don't know the exact numbers and numbers always work out.

As Pete always says

The numbers always work themselves out.

If we want to take 33 prospects this year, Al will find a way to do it.

This coaching staff is 3 moves ahead of anybody on this board, no need to sit down and speculate on who can and cannot commit/EE.

we can "take" a million prospects, but every head coach in american (including Al Golden), is limited by certain rules.

1.
25 initial counters
15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial
counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an annual limit of 85 on the total number of counters (including initial
counters) in football at each institution. (Revised: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/92, 12/15/06)

2.
25 LOI's signed(during "normal" signing period)
15.5.1.10.1 Limitation on Number of National Letter of Intent/Offer of Financial Aid Signings—
Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] In bowl subdivision football, there shall be an annual limit of
25 on the number of prospective student-athletes who may sign a National Letter of Intent or an institutional
offer of financial aid from December 1 through May 31. (Adopted: 1/16/10 effective 8/1/10, Revised:
1/14/12 effective 8/1/12)

we aren't enrolling more than 29 kids next fall. and if pete or anyone else says otherwise, they are wrong.

last year's class was 21.

see the first page of this thread.

Yes, but of those 21, 5 were EEs (Figs, Beau, Sonny, Knighton, Dobard), thereby counting against the prior year class. That's where I got my 16 from.

2002 class was either 31 or 32. You can only roll back EEs if the previous year class was below 25. The EE's from last year count against 2013 not 2012.
