Yes but he was told he's not being retained as HC. That's basically firing him in my book, even if they'd told him they'd give him a nice corner office and pay him a few hundred bucks a month to stare out a window.

I wasn't discounting him being relieved of his position... Just pointing out for those that will run the narrative that he's going somewhere else that he isn't... It wasn't a hostile split... Pete gets a chance to stay part of the game and not deal with the grind anymore... Works out great for a guy his age...

I would have happily agreed to 2 more Diaz years if it meant we could get Carroll as HC right now.

I'm not saying Mario is the answer at all, but neither is 72 year old Pete. A wealth of knowledge but time catches all.

Attended a practice while USC was on their run. Pete was out there tossing bombs and running around like he was 21. Cool to see in person.
