Social media is crap. It’s very negative. Different people deal with it in different ways. Affected by it in different ways. I for one don’t want any of it in my life (although I do spend wayyyyy to much time on this site and I am reevaluating that).

I am so glad I (and many of us here and sounds like you included) didn’t grow up with social media crap or phones.

He mentions it as a negative, Cristobal mentions it as a negative and that’s it. He’s not making an excuse as to his performance or anything because of social media. Only that keep the negative vibes out that can intact your performance.

If you had to go to work and read a social media site for all to see how good or bad you are in your job, then maybe you might feel different.

You dont have to read social media to see how youre doing. They choose to do so which is a female trait. Men shouldn't care what others think.

I dont give 1 **** what people on the internet think of me. Nobody should. If they do then they are soft.

Don’t disagree but it’s not the reality of today.

It’s perfectly fair to evaluate and critique a highly compensated staff for on field results. The continuous blown assignments, the questionable situational playcalling in short yardage or in the redzone, not capitalizing on two minute drills, etc.

Yes it’s 5 games which is **** near half a season in college football. I’m hoping what this staff does on the trail covers up a lot of our issues. We knew this was a looming consequence with Mario Cristobal as a head coach.

And to speak on a larger point, everyone here is aware Mario will be here for a while (minimum 4-5 years) The rest of his staff? That remains to be seen. It’s the middle of the season and it’s a college football message board. The fans, the media, they will all justifiably scrutinize what we’re seeing. Otherwise what are we even doing here?

Folks like yourself should want that to keep happening because the worst thing that can happen is utter apathy from a fanbase at what the optics clearly show is a dead program at this point.

Apathy or just blindly going along for the ride won’t do a **** thing to resurrect it.

Which if you're at the game, before or after, win or loss if after, be there when they enter/exit the stadium and let them know people still care. It's not hate, it should never be that, and thankfully I never had to deal with all the internet stuff. Those people wishing you well before and after matter, good or bad, they're with you. You might have your head down or be ****ed at your play or the game, but if you allow it as a player someone there will put a smile on your face.

And @P-Tizzle - they are kids. They may not be in the sense of a 5th grader but just because they legally are adults and in college, they are still learning and finding out about life. It’s actually just getting started.

I am not the type to excuse much but I am the type to try and understand and teach my older kids as they will make immature mistakes as any your personal would starting out life on their own, especially under a spotlight as they are athletes.

Hah it’s almost like sports fanaticism entails the inevitable bellyaching and fans are entitled to it. It’s the most typical thing in this sphere. It’s such a bizarre thing to get hung up about. More importantly fans speak with their wallet.

The role of media is to be a vehicle for the masses (well aware the ideal doesn’t always stack up) but that role entails scrutiny and accountability.

This staff gets ZERO passes for a 2-3 record which includes an absolute beat down to one of the worst division one football programs in the country (MTSU).
 
From all accounts, the kids have been doing everything in their power with the work they’re putting in. This latest personal account from Tyrique is further evidence of this.

The staff has failed them to this point. They’re the ones getting paid the millions and as such, they understand as much as anyone they will always be under the magnifying glass. It’s part of the job.

Personally, I didn’t think we had much talent to win anything of consequence this season but I did think an 8-4 record was plausible.

The Middle Tennessee state loss has me thinking we won’t even make a bowl game at this point. That would be a monumental failure.

That leaves you hoping Mario’s strengths on the trail can keep the class intact and build something years down the line that puts a respectable product on the field because to this point, this staff continues to punch below their weight on gameday.

They are young adults but you are living in the past. I work with young adults every day and they are different from how they were even 10 years ago. I remember when I could fill my gas tank up for $20, something tells me those days will never be back.

Who is giving them a pass?

And again, what are the alternatives? What would this not giving them a pass entail? Firing the staff? Suspensions? Stop going to the games or supporting the program which has finally, after 20 years of us begging, begun to care about football again?

I'm not giving them a pass in the least bit. You can't lose to MTSU. I think we all understand that. I think the staff understands that. ****, I think DBC understands that. But it was 3 weeks ago, and we have more than half the season to play out. Right now, today, October 13th, what would you suggest we do if we aren't giving them a pass? Should we dock their pay? Should they be subject to a public dunk tank? We cut off 1 finger of a random staff member until morale improves? I'm curious as to how this changes?

I'm all for talking ball and seeing what can improve. I'm all for jettisoning Gattis at the end of the season, because I feel we've been hoodwinked there. But today, what would you suggest we do if we're in the camp of not giving the staff a pass?
