People seem to forget and need to chill

Please tell me what exactly Lashlee should have run? He had an O-line that could barely block, receivers that can't get open, and a QB who was consistently underthrowing every pass over 20 yards. He is still playing with a group of average players. What else could he do?

Lashlee continued to run inside zone runs when Clemson was literally was shifting to where it would not be successful.

Clemson would also blitz often and we never adjusted. Can't recall ever seeing a screen during the game.

Exactly. Relax everyone. In Dabo’s second season at Clemson (2010) he went 6-7 and thought he was getting fired. Obviously we have more talent now than Dabo in 2010, but there was also no equivalent to a Clemson in the ACC at that time. It takes time to build an elite program.

Last year we were getting our **** rocked by FIU and La Tech. Y’all are fools if you think hiring Lashlee and acquiring a pretty good transfer QB would catapult us to championship caliber football. We have deficiencies at OL, WR, LB and more.

We need to bounce back. The games against Pitt, VT, UNC, etc. are the measuring stick right now. If Diaz can consistently beat these teams and haul in top 10 recruiting classes, that game against Clemson is gonna look a lot different in a few years.

if we get a rematch with Clemson it will be the same result bruh so dont get those hopes up cause we possibly will get a rematch. We get blown out again its just facts that roster is stacked now people can see cause some thought we had 1st rounder everywhere.

which is fine. if we get within 2 scores of them the next time around thats a win. we arent good enough to be a playoff team and battle with teams like clemson esp w our roster holes on O

It is STILL less than a year since we lost to FIU and La. Tech. Pretty much a year ago we lost to a horrible GT team. If you guys were expecting a 6th ring this year, take a long look in the mirror and temper your expectations.

I remember Clemson getting blown out by FSU and in bowl games. The path to greatness in college football is a bunch of mediocre teams taking butt whippings as they build a squad.
pretty much. you win the games you should, youll land your recruits bc theyll see you still finished the year w a loss or 2 at most.

It’s funny because I kept hearing LSU lost to UL Monroe and won the natty the next year because of a change in offense. Some of you guys just keep moving the goal posts doing this every year and rationalize to death the glaring flaws in this program.

I wasn’t expecting us to beat Clemson fwiw

A lot of people on this board seem to forget that we were a 6 win team last year. This year was NEVER about beating Clemson, the #1 team. It was about improving and getting a 10+ win season and solidify recruiting. Sad to say but there are some delusional fans on here. As of now, we are on the right path and improving. It is how we play from here on out that determines our future. Recover from the loss and take care of business.
No excuses. I don't care what we were last year.

I have no problem with the effort our guys gave. They played hard for 60 minutes. The two and perhaps 3 biggest issues were penalties, poor offensive game plan, and failure to scheme against Etienne.

The two 3rd down penalties on Clemson's first 2 drives gave them TDs instead of punts. Clemson would have scored 28 instead of 42 points. That's a great night for the defense considering our offense ran ONLY 54 plays.

Secondly, Lashlee's game plan was atrocious. He had no answer and made no adjustments trying to run the ball against a stacked box. With a better game plan, the game would have been more competitive.

Thirdly, Baker had no scheme to limit Etienne. You have tp take away or limit their best player(s). Baker didn't do that because we had McCloud trying to cover Etienne which is a basic LB scheme in any defense. We need someone with speed to shadow Etienne especially on 3rd down passing situations.

Having had 2 days to digest the game, as poorly as we played on offense, we were 2 defensive penalties and 1 redzone interception from a 28-24 game.

I think if we could get to the ACC title game, it would be much more competitive with a better game plan from Lashlee.

How did our O improve against a good defense? It failed miserably this weekend. While we didn’t expect to win, it is head in the sand delusional to think this was an improvememt. Bouncing back and thrashing Pitt, forgetting about the loss to a Clemson, will be an improvement and show our team won’t spiral out of control after a big loss.

I swear idk how some of y’all make it through life. You chose this game bc the scores are comparable, just like people compare Manny’s early tenure to Dabo and Saban.

Y’all need help. This game has ZERO to do with Miami

The pass protection actually wasn't too terrible. The receivers simply could not get open. There was zero separation for our receivers. That caused King to hold the ball too long leading to the majority of the sacks.

Sounds like a very bad gameplan then. Running up the middle was bad as well.

I wasn't one of these guys hanging Richt out to dry due to play calling. Play calling is overrated, and this board has acted like it was some magic elixir. I said THIS off season, our WRs could not catch a cold and got negged for it. The problem is not playcalling, although it did yield better results against lesser programs. The problem is culture, and King shows that a kid from a different program can exude a work ethic we don't see in S. Fl.

So you agree with Richt that the same plays from 30 years ago, should still work?

A bad game plan?!?! So they should have game planned to just run the ball every down? Thanks for the insight JoePa
I guess you only read one sentence? How many crossing routes did we run? Playaction passes? Jet sweeps? TE Screens? RB screens? Outside runs?

Running up the middle zone and constantly throwing deep go’s was a horrible plan. Zero creativity.

Did you watch the game? Even the short route runners struggled to get separation.

We actaully had a couple chances to make a game of it. That said, I loss lot of money on this game because I figured I would not take a flyer on another Cane game until we get new HC and staff. Sadly I was 5000 dollars correct. Perosnally I ma having a great year so I figured what the **** maybe this can be like 1983. Oops. At least now I can settle into another frigging year with no football joy. Did go out to the range yesterday with the wife to break in a couple new ARs. She hates Clemson like we hate gator(USC fan) so we used orange targets and burnt 500 rounds making sure both worked well, each type of box I have fed well and each type of round did likewise. New optics left a little to be desired but all targets were nicely torn to pieces.
I could of told u we would lose. I said we lose by at least 17 and I was one point of the final score. 43-17 was my guess. I follow sort of ACC recruiting and alot of targets sometimes we battle Clemson....so I figured they had a full deck and we didn't. Problem is our fan base forgets yea stars matter but they used that to think we have the same talent. All they have to do is use there eyes and see Clemson had too many guess that stick out where we don't.

Yea we make it there lose 45-20 that's understandable they are way ahead of us. My thing is bring in there type of class, make that the standard and close on national signing day and even Manny can win
If we typically implode in the last month of recruiting he will be out of a job in two to three years. Then we start the cycle again
