Penn St OOC schedule

Please we had some weak as schedules recently.

We can't control 67% of the games on our schedule. So it's not about the overall schedule, as we play 8 games against teams the ACC tells us we're going to play. Same with Indiana, but it's 9.

What we can both control are the OOC games, and the last few years Miami has played:

LSU at a neutral site
Florida at a neutral site
Alabama at a neutral site
App State at home (one of the best G5 teams in the country)
App State on the road
Michigan State at home
Texas A&M on the road
Texas A&M at home
Florida on the road
Florida at home
Notre Dame at home

That's just in the last 8 or so years. There isn't a single game on Indiana's OOC schedule for the next 5+ years that's even close to any of those.

Dont quite me on this, but I believe Indiana has never won a bowl game and had like a handful of winning seasons ever. They are trying to raise the floor to that 8-9 win range. They won’t steal playoff bids with that OOC schedule. Much different than PSU being pansies imo.

They were to play VT this year but when VT cancelled in the covid year due to illness, Penn State cancelled this year's game. As I said in another thread, Villanova is moving down to the Patriot League.
VT DID NOT CANCEL DUE TO ILLNESS? THE BIG 10 CANCELLED THEIR FOOTBALL SEASON THAT YEAR UNTIL NOVEMBER

We just need to beat the tar out of SEC teams (FL) we play... that way, they have keep us ranked high enough to get as many SEC teams in the playoffs.... that's an advantage in playing some of the SEC clowns in our non-conference schedule

I've been saying I still think we should adjust our non con and play 1 major game and 3 mid/low tier teams. No reason we should play Florida and ND in the same year IMO
We need to continue playing in big matchups to get our ratings up and show that we belong with the big boys and that Miami football is a ratings play for future conference reallocation.

If we stay in the ACC we won’t be able to keep up with the money disparity. Playing in big matchups helps our case to be invited to B1G

Nevada
FIU
Villanova.

If they lose more than 1 game this season they should be banned from making the playoff. Complete joke.
I hope they make it, I hope they only have one loss from the B10 CHGM, I hope they are highly ranked and I hope we get to play them. Way too early of a take, but...I think we would crush them. I think their QB is gutsy, but not overly skilled and I don't believe in their HC. What big games has he won? At least Mario, prior to this past Sunday, has some big underdog games that he's won.

Bring on the paper Nittany Lions!

They are only bad if you lose. Also isn't ND on our schedule as part of the ACC deal?

We are not being disadvantaged by playing tough OOC opponents, we are by losing to bad and mid in conference ones like GT and Syracuse.

Plenty of reasons. $$ do you think anyone would show up to watch Miami play FIU, Nevada and Villanova? People want to see good opponents

'26- at USCe, at ND
'27-Utah in Vegas, USCe

Looking beyond*...
Auburn home/home and ND again with room to pick up another team.

*not taking into consideration Conference musical chairs.

I can't believe people are complaining about Indiana's schedule. Because of the Catch 22 way talent acquisition is fixed in college football, teams like IU start off with figurative shackles on their feet. They're doing the only smart thing they can, hoping to build slowly by increasing their win totals and pointing to an elevation in their program so that better talent will at least see them a little more favorably. Will it work in a significant way? Probably not, but what else are they going to do?

Penn State on the other hand could afford to schedule better OOC. That said, all the constant trashing of Franklin as some bad coach because he's not beating the OSUs of the world seems off base considering he's never been able to stock like OSU. They did play for the B1G championship last year.

Go look at their schedules over the past 25+ years. ALWAYS 7 home games, sometimes eight. OOC is ALWAYS weak asf, save MAYBE for one semi-tough ooc game every few years. They are a fraud program. Always have been. But Joe Paterno did it the right way....whatever the F that means.

I lived in PA for 18 years, 18 LONG years. This is nothing new. I also firmly believe this is why they can't ever get over the hump and finally win meaningful games, they lose everytime they play someone with a pulse.
I live in PA & wouldn't wanna live anywhere else but yes Penn State fans suck & Franklin will never do it.
