Pelini going out like a boss

Some of what he said sounded like he was the **** to me. ****ing and moaning about negativity from fans and former players. LOL at his team was beat down by all the negativity that led to the Wisconsin debacle. Sounds like Pelini thought everyone should be happy with 9 win seasons.

I don't see where Pelini said 9 wins is acceptable, unless I missed something. Bo comes from championship-winning programs, and he knows better than most that winning titles is the only thing that matters in big-time CFB. However, Brasky ain't the place it used to be, in terms of getting recruits. Their offense was caught behind the curve when the shotgun spread proliferated throughout nearly every program in the country at the turn of the century, and they have had a tough time getting a QB and plentiful skill position players to match other top level programs. Lincoln is a much harder place to recruit in this day and age. They still get a handful of great players like Abdullah, Kenny Bell and so on, but teams like FSU, OU and Alabama go 3-deep without much dropoff.

Brasky is free to do whatever it wants, but IMO Riley wasn't the home run hire that a team in the middle of corn country needs to draw better players there. It could work out, but it could also go way worse than 9 wins a season. Eichorst is putting his career on the line with this hire.

Maybe it isn't what it once was and I think the Riley hire was bad but I would rather my administration not accept 9 wins a year as a reason to keep things as is. Peleni came off like a guy who thinks he should be getting his **** sucked for what he was accomplishing.

Or maybe he just wanted to know the AD had his back, and would show his face more than 20 minutes in a year.

Bo is a troublesome coach, has been for years. He's been reprimanded before for shooting his mouth off inappropriately, so this diatribe is nothing new. But, it's also definitely true that he's been getting **** on by the locals, specifically former players and such, and so he's been getting backed into a corner of sorts. The truth is most likely somewhere in the middle- he's an *******, and a hard guy to like, but he felt betrayed by an AD that didn't hire him and didn't have his back when he most needed it.

Must read material for UM players, especially the end.. I see a lot of parallels, and not surprising as we used to call Eichorst the ghost or something like that.. Hate to say it, but this article kinda makes me appreciate Blake James a bit, for at least standing for something

Not saying I like Bo, but I wish he would come here and kick the crap out of Donna for us. After all, she gave him the job that got him in line for NU's.

Pelini is a dumb *** corch. Just because he can outsmart Golden means aboslutely nothing. Bielema, another moron, will follow him to D-11 next year.

The takeaway on this for me is that someone is really ******* serious about their football @ Youngstown State to have scooped up Tressel & Pellini. That is some talent right there.

YSU wants to win big again. Tressel won 4 'ships with them and thinks they can win big again with Pelini. I wouldn't bet against them.

My best read on Shawn Eichorst is that he got the UM AD gig but quickly realized that it was an empty suit of a position, someone with no authority other than to do whatever the **** donna told him to do. So he played along with it, extended golden then took the next quality gig that came along.

The fact that he was willing to fire Pellini tells me that he is not afraid to stir the pot in order to create the change needed to improve. I could be wrong but thats the vibe Ive always got about him based on everything Ive heard and read.

LOL He exposes Eichorst for the phony that he is. He was the worst at UM & he will end up getting fired at Nebraska for hiring that loser coach. Go Bo!

Thisi is NOT true. Eichorst himself was the ultimate cold fish empty suit, was totally disinterested while at UM (if you had met him at HC gatherings you would know) and was simply looking for the next best gig with more money. LOSER. Totally unqualified for the positions he has managed to get.

You would have a point had he went out a made a ******* great hire. He didn't. So no...

I was fortunate to meet Bo several times through the years. His persona as a HC and the guy at dinner parties are two very different people. He can recruit and knows ******* football, what else do you need in a HC. :)

Boys, that is how a Man handles his business.

I have no idea what went down, and neither does anyone else in this thread, but that is not how a man handles business. I've met Bo. I don't know him well and I offer no opinion about his job at Nebraska.

But a "man" doesn't handle business by delivering his version of events, free from opposition, in front of a captive audience that should already respect him.

Youngstown is a pretty talent rich area. Decent amount of NFL'ers for a city of about 60,000 (500,000+ in the tri-county area). UM fans should know this (ahem....Bernie Kosar)

Pelini handled it like a 12 year old would, but he defamed the man who extended golden, the current source of my weekend misery, so I'm good with it.

LOL, Sure it is. He knew these kids for however long and he gave them his version. What you are trying to say is he did it out of bitterness or whatever. The way the AD handled his biz is like a *****, or ****, whichever you prefer. I've met BO several times and like the guy. I'm tied into the area with my wife who is from Omaha. I'm going to align with the guy I've met, not that *** hat that ****ed over the U with the dumbest extension ever.
