Ped STate vs Purdue

I really hope that Manny, who I don't think is a dummy, does some self-assessment of his defense and where it went wrong, and makes the changes or adaptations necessary. Otherwise, he could find himself as a position coach and not a coordinator.

Not Manny’s fault. He can’t make players tackle or cover. His scheme looks tight, still.

He had 6 years here to self assess but in the end he did the same thing he's done everywhere else he's been...
In all honesty if he survives the season at Penn St I'll be surprised.... The schedule they have isn't getting easier.. Giving up the yards they did in game 1 is just a preview of whats to come....And like I said this isn't anything new... This is on Franklin for making the hire...

Penn St suck. They ran the ball for 3.2 yards. That's Lashlee level run game. Purdue is not some playoff level defense. For me they are like a WF type team. Struggling to run the ball against them is a flashing light and the warning signs I had thinking we can take the next step with the previous regime against a big time opponent. If you cannot run the ball v decent teams that are not elite you are not gonna win anything big.
Also Diaz brought the same undisciplined chaotic scheme over there. They are gonna have atleast one game where they get gashed over and over with no a single adjustment made. They lucky they don't get Illinois or Wisconsin. But others like Michigan are on there

What position? I don't think he's even qualified as a position coach TBH. His LBs suck and he can't recruit. What else could he coach?

Here's the thing about Diaz' boom-or-bust defense: with a talented team (and Pedo ST does have some talent), you're going to have some good results by default. He will face some teams with really weak OLs this year, and you'll see sacks, points of turnovers, etc.

With a decent OL and good playcalling, an above-average offensive will absolutely shred Diaz in the mid-range passing game in the seam, at the boundary, and with a quick out that goes for big yards after a very short pass.

So, yeah, Ohio Taint will put up massive numbers, but don't be surprised if there's some highlights along the way, too. He's made a career out of those moments.

Re-watched the game & on Purdue’s last drive, The TE broke 3 tackles for a big gain & 1st down. However, that was negated by a chop, & if I’m being honest, it looked like the block below the waste happened prior to the defender being engaged. Regardless, it was that call that negated Purdue’s march down field & gave PSU’s def new life to get the ball back.

PSU def struggling against Purdue is all we need to know about how their def will fair this season.

Last year Purdue was second in the Big Ten in passing behind OSU, at 354 a game. They also couldn’t run the ball for ****.

That game basically played out as It was supposed to.
This.

Purdue was one of the best passing teams in the country last year and one of the worst rushing teams. (Way worse than Miami) Shutting down a running game that only averaged 85 yards per game last year means nothing. Just like giving up a bunch of passing yards to a team that averaged 350 per game. Purdue put up over 500 yards against Tennessee and Michigan State and 400 against Ohio State. The real test is when Manny’s defense takes on a team that can actually run the ball. That’s when the comedy of errors could break out. Penn State did tackle terribly last night.
