Tom Osborne had the safeties switch numbers prior to the game to try to confuse Kosar.
I never understood the reason why though?

I watched this game sitting in the lounge area of the barracks at the Navy base in Millington, Tennessee. In the lounge were several Nebraska fans.....and me.

Great night!!

I was there. Most unbelievable moment. Nebraska had what was called an all-time great OL at that time. Always respected Osbourne for going for two. He could have kicked it and probably gotten at least a share of the Natty.
Not so fast my friend...

40 years, **** am I getting old but **** me if football wise that doesnt feel like 400 years ago now.

A Jeff 'The Flea' Davis sighting. We named him that in little league because he would crouch down at the plate and no one could pitch a strike to him. I remember him telling me when he was 12 that he was going quit baseball to concentrate on kicking field goals and I'd always see him on the field at Clearwater High weekends and summers with his dad just kicking one after the other. Couldn't believe it when he and Scott Singleton both inked with Miami out of Clearwater. Of course, Miami had no basketball team so we split and I haven't seen either one in about 30 years.
