He gets bashed as our worst position coach while people act like Michael Barrow was a loss. Hate to say it but our LB's seem better this year than any since Golden got here. Also, as far as williams, every judges him based on Tracy. Tracy was at All ACC level last year. He developed Gunter who was a 2 star. Burns was a tweener and forced into action too early. Bush and Jenkins have had injuries but when healthy they make plays. He also turned around Brandon McGee. I could be wrong but he might not be that bad, it might be the passive scheme that is throwing us off.

He's bad.

His job is to develop his guys, and to put them in th best position to be successful. Not doing both of those things is failing at his job.

If the staff doesn't have confidence those DBs can "hold it down", its definitely not a talent issue. So, that leaves ... Coaching.

And for all the knocks on Tracy's speed ... He looked pretty good in pursuit of that VT back. Took the proper angle, and made the tackle.

You need to be one of two things to be a position, thats be a good recruiter (which is the case with most position coaches) or be good at teaching the craft of the position, there are few that are both, williams does neither and he might be out the door

Not the biggest fan of Paul Williams. Our db's should be so much better.

Don't really know how good of a coach he could be in this scheme but the dbs not being able to locate the ball in the air in 4 years is coaching.

I'm not impressed with the job he's done, particularly as an evaluator of talent.

Deon Bush has a picture with the DBs, Coach D, and Paul Williams on his twitter ... So, I guess the players are good with him.

I'm sure someone more tech savvy than me can post the pic ...

Amazing how much better they look when we are not playing on our heels and are taking it to the other team. Like VT and Duke. Tracey was in on that second fumble. Is he going to give up some stuff sure, but play the rest of the season like those two games, I think the DBS will get more notoriety. I can't see R. Greene killing Tracey if we play press man and aggressive with the front 7. We need everyone to stay healthy but as I've said, they need to stay aggressive!!!

what does that have to do with his ability as a coach. there are plenty of "players coaches" that aren't very good at their job.

Highsmith, Fentress...this guy is obsessed with playing our most average athletes at a position where we need athleticism.

Deon and Corn have done a good job. Fentress makes plays around the LOS. Dallas finally contributed with a FF. Gunter has proven to be versatile.

Need to see more from Burns, Tracy, Antonio, Carter.

It's hard to flash as a db in a defense that gets gashed for 300+ continuously; how did fuller do the other night, that's right invisible, why? Because we threw less than 20 passes

I don't think it's a coincidence that almost all of the DB's on the roster are terrible at playing the ball in the air. They get in position and then look lost when the ball arrives. It would make sense if the majority of these guys hadn't looked capable of playing the ball in high school. Except that they all looked better making plays on the ball in high school. Seems like coaching to me.
