Paul Finebaum weighs in on the situation

The Victory Formation started after this fumble by the Giants that Herm Edwards returned.

"The victory formation - a kneel-down play with maximum fumble protection - became a coaching staple after Edwards' unbelievable touchdown gave the Philadelphia Eagles a victory over the Giants in November 1978.Jul 9, 2020"

Funny the first time I recall seeing it was in the Orange Bowl when the Dolphins came out in it, at the end of the game. But here's what really links it to The Curse of the Orange Bowl. The handoff at the Giants game was supposed to go to Larry Csonka who was with Buffalo for a short time.

It was a boneheaded decision to not knee. That’s really cut and dry.

But has anyone in the media covered that Chaney was down and didn’t fumble? Or that the officiating was terrible all game.

I would think anyone who saw that play could see that but haven’t seen anyone except Miami fans mention it.

As much as I hate Finebaum, I think Cristobal should go on his show Monday morning and acknowledge he f#cked up. Face the slings and arrows. A[BGCOLOR=initial]dmit it was one of the worst blunders ever and that he's going to make sure it never happens again. Go on every media channel available and acknowledge how big a mistake he made, and that all he can do now is set the example for his players about being a man and taking ownership for his actions. It also draws the sting from the media. Not as fun and salacious when a coach is openly admitting his mistake and getting all choked up on national television about letting his kids down. [/BGCOLOR]

[BGCOLOR=initial] If I'm a parent of a recruit and see a HC who has the moral courage to face his critics head on and accept responsibility without excuses, I'm going to feel a lot better about trusting him with my kid and helping him grow into an adult. Cristobal can turn this fiasco into something positive if he has the guts to walk into the firestorm. [/BGCOLOR]

Everyone is gonna pile on. It's all about how team, staff and locker room react. Since when do we care about Finebaum?

100%. Apologize and own it, ****, make some jokes about it. Disarm and take the power out of it.

Sure would go a lot further than what he offered up to DBJ last night.

I’m not holding my breath.

Pawlll does realize that Saban was in a similar situation earlier in the day and didn't take a knee. **** his QB even threw a incomplete pass when TAMU didn't have any timeouts left which force his daddy Saban to have to run a scramble around and heave the ball play on 4th down bec he didn't just take 3 knees to run out the clock. Maybe that's where Mario learned this transcendent stupid idea.

It’s the type of coaching malpractice that folks will talk about when this type of situation pops up. In random games in the future a team will be in a similar spot and announcers will emphasize not to pull a Miami and not knew the ball.

It was coaching stupidity and Mario’s the guy that will be forever known for it regardless of how his tenure at Miami turns out.
It will blow over in time. It took the Giants 8 years to win the Super Bowl before the Piscarcek game to before it was no longer associated with them.

I don't think it will take us that long to win a championship, but I have no doubt our own fans will keep it alive.

Im not even mad, I’m sick. I couldn’t even celebrate the Carr commit yesterday.

Just sucks when you devote so much time to something to watch it crumble in the most idiotic way possible. That drive home from stadium took a few years off my life. Mario owes us.

He could’ve went 1-1 (maybe 0-2 if we battled) vs UNC/Clemson without an ounce of criticism. He needs to win both of those to come close to making up for Saturday.

Im sorry y’all boys, you all deserve better. Have a good week.

He deserves it

Mario gotta go at least 1 for 3 out of fsu unc clemson, and even then we will still probably be on outside looking in for ACCCG
in a year where no one is elite, this was the time to be able to make a run and speed up the rebuild esp w a veteran team with a vet QB and better coaching. now its pretty much shot because the schedule is tougher now

Honestly the more I think about this, the more I think a 20-17 win would just paper over the situation for another week.

Want to show me something? Prove something to CFB? Go win in NC.
People have been pointing this out for 4 weeks...

Limping out of a 20-17 win is way better than fumbling into a 23-20 loss.... Every day. Twice on Saturdays....

All you puzzies crying about Colorado got your wish. We made it.

This.

Folks getting out of pocket talking about my coach. We fans can do that but outsiders like Finebaum need to reign it in.
