Some friends are big Big 12 guys. I mentioned UM having interest in Patterson as its new coach. They looked at each other like I was being ridiculous, like what I'm about to say is common knowledge in Big 12 country. I'm told that much of TCU's boosters are big oil, and they make sure Patterson isn't going anywhere by including him on certain drilling deals. If he leaves he can be cut out of those deals. Obviously there is no way of knowing if this is true, and admittedly my friends don't know for sure if it's true, but if it is, Patterson isn't going to be Miami's new coach.
UM might as well not even pitch him if some anonymous Big 12 fans think it's impossible.
No one is saying that. Just need to understand the context.

was this legit? i thought he never interviewed.
Everybody knows he isn't leaving tcu. That's his program. He is in his early 60s now and has been there 17 year. He will retire there.
He's 55.
Everybody knows that.
Yeah everyone knows that.
Nothing better than "information" from anonymous people who have no idea what they are talking about. Moar threads like this.
