So is every University ranked below us in the US news NOT a University?
USC has football as a major priority, so despite it's being a notably better academic institution, by your way of thinking it's not a University.

No, you're right. I admit it. We have the worst-run university in the country. Bottom rung.

Do you not even understand why they care about this stupid ranking and perception nonsense? It's not b/c they care about your degree. It's not because they have the audacity to think employers actually give a **** which school moved up and which moved down 3 spots. It's b/c they are desperate to establish Miami medical as the south florida version of Columbia Pres or Weill Cornell (both in NYC). DESPERATE. They have sunk gobs of money into that goal, and in order to be taken seriously, they have to at least appear to be an elite undergraduate academic institution. Of course, you can't just wake up one day and decide to become Dartmouth. So they artificially change their acceptance standards, and BAM, suddenly US News says we are a better college. It's a dog and pony show to make a bunch of stuck up rich people happy. At the expense of the actual backbone of the **** school. And idiots like you eat it up b/c you think it'll help you become a CEO in a years time.

That's not all they did lmao.. here's an example: before Shalala came in, the business school was a joke. Everyone was getting A's and the average business school GPA was 3.7+. A curve was applied so the average has to be between a 3.0 and 3.3. That, hiring better teachers, improving facilities, and improving student to faculty ratio really helped the business school. Unfortunately I don't know much about the other schools because I was a business graduate, but I know she made improvements everywhere.

Those that didn't attend won't understand. You can say being ranked in the top 50 schools means nothing, but it really does. Being from Colorado, I have visited CSU and CU many times. Those schools have way more dumb *** kids than the U.

But that doesn't mean we should be choking the athletic programs.
