Pat Fitzgerald

What happened to Pat Fitzgerald is unacceptable.

Talk about a guy that loved his alma mater.

All-American LB at NU that took the laughing stock of college football and put them in the Rose Bowl.

Dude was a beast on the field and by all accounts a solid dude. He turned down all kinds of money to stay at NU. If you look at where there program is before and after his arrival, wow.

There's really nothing bad you can say about the guy, imo.

There is no doubt about his love for and loyalty to Northwestern. But his team leaders were traumatizing and abusing new players. Whether or not he knew is irrelevant to his firing IMO. He had lost institutional control. He had to go.

northwestern should sue the mainstream media for inciting all of the radicals to action against Fitzgerald. he has been exonerated
Hypocrisy is many in the media are now singing his praises - great guy, unduly ****ed on by the woke Northwestern crowd, utter vindication, etc. Yet the majority of these spineless characters stood by silently while he was earlier being burned at the stake.

Stanford needs a HC next year. I’m old and remember when Northwestern HC Denny Green (“they are who we thought they were”) made the jump to Stanford and then on to the NFL.

Whaddaya think?

****, I’m so old that I remember when Northwestern HC, Ara Parseghian, made the jump to Notre Dame and became a legend.
Nailed it, Luck should be on the phone with him now.
BTW, how odd is it that Reich is on a one-year deal to coach Stanford until they can find a guy. So he'll pass through Miami as a college player, pro and now a head coach. Crazy, and I remember the first two phases clearly.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

There were some hazing allegations.

He was accused of attempting to keep things in-house at worst.

There are so many moving pieces to the story beyond just the allegations related to the firing.

He's probably not a good social fit at Stanford.

Fitzgerald will be in play for some big time head coaching jobs if he desires to go that route. Places like Florida, Michigan (Sherrone Moore has a small buyout), Auburn, Ohio State (if Day leaves for the NFL), and LSU.

It's not. Regardless of whether he knew or not, it was his responsibility to know.

The way I understand it is some *** dude on the team got picked on.

If there's more to it, whatever.

I don't care about hazing, at all.

Hazing had nothing to do with the termination.

Northwestern had the best Journalism school in America at one point. They put a political spin on this story. Progressive Marxists support it. Conservatives are against it. This is happening across all major sports. Sad when it seeps into CFB.

Just because Stanford is In California doesn’t make a liberal bastion.

The city of Palo Alto and the school are pretty conservative. You won’t find any homeless people sleeping on the streets. Let’s just the cops are very proactive.

Fitzgerald certainly would be a great hire for them but Stanford history is to hire offense minded coaches. Since Bill Walsh took over in 77, Stanford has hired only 1 head coach with a defensive background (Paul Wiggin) and 10 head coaches with offensive backgrounds.

That doesn't make those folks conservative.
I think the word you're looking for is NIMBY.

There's a 20 page convo that could be had regarding what went on behind the scenes at Northwestern around the Fitzgerald firing.

Obviously, not going to happen.

You want to run with what you were told on ESPN.
Mate, all you exposed is that you hate *** people and have no problem with people being severely bullied and abused in group settings.

You're just an ******* at this point, so I can run with what I've read on here from you.
