The biggest difference yesterday, IMO, was the amount of time Jarren had to throw. He had time to let those slow playactions develop; he had time to scan the field and find open short routes; he had time to unwind for long balls and threw a few absolute gems as a result. I saw Deejay make one phenomenal block pickup after another, but he hustles like that every game. So for those who understand the X's and O's of blocking more than I do, what was the difference last night? Did FSU just suck? I'd have a hard time believing it could be nothing but that, as regardless of how bad they've been this year, that is a much more talented defensive front 7 than several other teams who had their way with us in the trenches and gave our QB zero time. What did we do different last night that lead to such solid pass protection?

It was a lot of things. The best game across the OL against the most athletic DL they've seen since UiF. Big 55 showed the toughness you've been wanting to see.

Deejay was the unsung hero. He picked up and cleaned up a few situations that have been resulting in sacks or broken plays most of the season.

Jarren also used the pocket a lot better and other than one or two plays, had the internal clock you've been waiting to see.

Enos using the short passing game and giving Jarren multiple concepts from the shotgun was huge too. Also through in well-timed screens against some of FSU's early aggressiveness.

You might be able to convince me Feely (who btw is a maniac on the sidelines) gave the entire team some kind of banned stimulant pre game.

Everybody just seemed a step faster and stronger than FSU. Shaq in particular had a burst hes never displayed before. He was about to murder Akers.

One thing I do like is coaches are messing around with competition- Campbell just Donaldson playing better

Communication, there was ton of communication on the line, because of that they were able to pick up blocks and less defenders were getting through without being touched

This has been the biggest issue recently , more than being overwhelmed or just beaten. The communication problems and not handing guys off or not taking the guy handed off. It’s been mind boggling.

It’s looking like they’re getting it, a year of getting stronger will also help. They’re still young and a tad weak. If ND hits Jenny Craig and we bring in a couple older we could be cooking with hot grease.
