Parents wildin' again...?

Not sure of the exact numbers, but the simple math of us signing somewhere around 25 kids (currently have 24 committed) and then wanting to bring in players in the portal... even if we only bring 5 kids, that means that 30 need to leave and we don't have that many kids that are out of eligibility this year.

Kids are going to need to transfer, retire and/or graduate out no matter what; hopefully it's the ones that aren't Miami caliber and they can find better opportunities elsewhere and not cause locker room problems this year.
LOL At non caliber Miami kids need to leave while his JAG nephew Olineman plays on the team

Oh I consider him non-Miami caliber... I should have clarified to say 'players who will never play here' and I hope that he is in that category too but with 'players who will never play here' depth is also factored in and unfortunately our depth at center is still non-bueno. Hopefully that changes, but I share your skepticism that his nephew will be asked to move on.

I'd love to know what plan they have him on. I would think he should be consuming 2,000 healthy calorie meals 4x a day, plus wake up at 3am for a protein weight gainer shake.... the food and supplements are there for free.. it's up to the kid... ****, maybe he is doing all the right things...

Yea that tried that with John Square, and was never a pound over 200. Seriously. Some guys just don't have the genes to bulk up.

At this point, I'm not even sure big Lou is in the 3 deep. Rodriguez was the backup center when Matt Lee got hurt and Jalen Rivers has been taking practice snaps there as emergency center.

Well I am glad they are not depending on him, but on the other hand if he is taking up a roster spot.... Is there a rule against Mario being allowed to pay for a family member's tuition? Can the make these kid a walk on and then give him and NIL deal equal to the cost of attendance?

The topic was discussed when we first signed him. There was a pretty large contingency here who didn't believe he should have been given one of the 85 scholarships. The argument for him was that we didn't have a backup center so it wasn't a huge deal giving a scholarship to an undersized G5 player who never would have been given a look if he had a different last name. But that point became moot once Rodriguez took the backup center spot. At this point, it is what it is so there's no reason to make a deal about it.

I remember the discussion, but like you said 1) we needed a backup center and 2) we had a spot (yeah, it could have gone to another person from the portal)... current situation is a little bit different as we are going to need people to leave just to have enough spots for the incoming class, never mind portal additions.
