Parallels for today's game

Idk why yall responding the way you are.

ON PAPER, we are underdogs. Blue chip ratio, Vegas betting line, media predictions, etc. A majority of America expects Ohio State to win this game. Fighting back at this notion above is childish.

With that said, as OP has recognized, games are not played on paper. On the field answers all questions. He was pointing out scenarios where we have actually won as underdogs, and even hinted at him expecting we win.

But yet 80% of responses want to focus on how we aren't underdogs. We are man, no matter how much you, as a Miami hurricanes fan, may think.

Upsets happen and underdogs win a lot in sports. This OP seems to be trying to rally the board and hype yall up behind the underdog storyline and yall are like no we aren't lol. Cmon...
Football is different.

We are "underdogs" at the finesse positions.

But compare those offensive lines.

Compare that defensive line. Outside of Mcdonald, I would take every single Cane position for position and we have more depth as well which we will be using in waves.

Caleb Downs is a DAWG and elite AF.

You know who has similar production? Jakobe Thomas.

They dont have a Keionte Scott

our RB is better

Our QB is a sixth year starter SEC champion with a W in a road playoff game against a redshirt freshman QB who has never played in a playoff game.

The LB gap is the most significant. However Miami has an edge at QB and in the trenches and when you have those 2 it's basically the great equalizer.

I like Miami here.

My friend they have 11 5* players and a blue chip ration of 89%. We are at 64%. They've got more to work with, and a loss tonight is a huge failure for them and their beard dying ****y piercing corch. On paper we are probably the 7th or 8th most talented team. We've got more to do to close the gap, we need a brilliant scouting department to find more kids like Kieonte Scott and Baby Jesus. Or we need to just get more 5* players. We did just beat a squad with a 82% blue chip ratio on the road. So yeah we can get it tonight for sure and got something for the frontrunning turncoats.....
that doesn't mean everything. We have two of the best freshmen in country who weren't blue chip. Bain was just a 4 star. Bell was a juco.

Innis was a 5 star and he is trash.

I do agree they have more talent but all the talk about beck, lets see Julian sayin reaction when he is pressured.

Brother I understand your point and also like how we matchup.

Before I try to give a definition of what makes an objective underdog, do you also understand the OPs point?

I do... And I think the way we are being protrayed is as a huge dog (-9.5) when in fact line should be OSU -3.5/4

I hear you, but we are not overmatched! We match up very well with this squad, man to man. I expect a victory and it will not be some sort of miracle. ***** the national media and the naysayers, lets fuccin show them what we already know, this team is not to be messed with!

Agreed. There’s a lot of recency bias in that 10 point spread. Ohio State has been there and done that for years now as far as postseason success. We are just making it back.

If a more “trusted” team like Bama or UGA had a top 10 defense, arguably the best defensive line in the game with 2 of the top 5 DE’s in the country, a top 10 offensive line , a punishing RB, a QB with a career 35-5 record who completes passes at a 75% clip, and one of the top 10 most electric players in all the game, the betting line would probably be a pick ‘em and everyone would say Ohio State better watch out.

Jakobe Thomas has had a better season than Downs.

We can take these MF

Stars can’t measure heart and this team has it in spades. We’ve got more than a punchers chance to beat those arrogant *****.

Nobody disagrees with that, but the OP got pushback on the "a bit overmatched on paper" sentiments when he's absolutely correct.

Ohio State has been a machine for a while now; reloading and playing at a high level ... Miami fielded a JV defense a year ago and is one year into righting this ****.

Yes, heart, enough talent, will and the right culture ... and no, it's not David versus Goliath in the truest of terms, but the Buckeyes have the more complete roster.

Thru most of my lifetime we've typically been the team everyone feared and the team whom should win championship games. Today we are a bit overmatched on paper, and facing the defending champs. This kind of reminds me of the 1984 Orange Bowl but that squad wasn't overmatched. Maybe the 1999 or 2000 Miami vs FSU games. Bobby had em rolling back then and we were the plucky hunter looking to make a move. Maybe the 1981 Penn State upset?

We aren't supposed to be here. We aren't supposed to win. Gonna make all the sweeter tonight.
Other people saying it, but we are not overmatched. Losing to SMU and UL has warped people to think we are some underdogs. We were underdogs for 2 games all year by less than a TD combined. Won both games btw. It takes experience to start winning on this level where u are favored in almost every game, not just for the players but also the coaches and I feel thats what happened in those losses. We are not overmatched. They have positions where they are better, we have positions where we are better. I rather have over advantages.

A&M was averaging 32 in SEC play and one of the best OL nationwide, 3 points. That spread is way too inflated imo. All am gonna say is Ohio didnt lose to teams we lost to but they also didnt beat any team the level we did. 2 teams who won double digit games in the regular season. That were ranked top ten near top 5 at some point during the season.

Yeah but being not favored is not being overmatched. Bama is also underdogs by 6 to Indiana, are they overmatched? When the media acted like we were overmatched v ND to start the season, we didn't buy it. They started pushing the same narrative last week. We are not overmatched. Underdogs, yes.

The NIL era kina changes that IMO. A guy like Bell or Scott don't count towards our blue chip rate. Or Mesidor lol

Youre right about that. Overmatched is not the right word to use this matchup.
