Papa Williams speaks out

Nah you yell at kids and hold them accountable.
I’m 42, played a lot of hockey, and have had coaches fire sticks into the stands and loose their minds. Didn’t phase me a whole lot.

kids are built different. I agree coaches should be able to yell and motivate players but they’re just built different.

But psychology says you cant yell at certain kids...
Psychology says you shouldn’t yell, and it’s right. I’m far from perfect but I try my best to speak with my kids, not at them. However, parenting and coaching football are two entirely different things. Can’t compare the two.

Last night When he greeted Pope after a bad drop told me everything i need to know about Manuel. I would’ve ripped Pope and benched him
Thought the same thing. How many times have you seen Saban lose his mierda when things like that happen? Again, not saying Manny has to be Saban but there is a time to nurture and a time to go ape shiiiit to make a point.

I feel that. I cant remember the last coach I played for that wouldn’t get in your face and yell at you for don’t something stupid. It was normal to me

Yelling doesn’t always work but I think it’s very effective for in game situations in football. But I mean something had to be done differently. What’s going on now isn’t cutting it and the kids seem like they don’t care.
Let me be clear: I’m not saying yelling shouldn’t take place, I’m just saying it’s overrated. Coaching is more psychological than just yelling.

Imagine you’re the parent of Smith, Restrepo, Redding, etc.... I would be fckin livid. 6 and 8 are literally being rewarded for poor performance, it’s absolutely insane to me. That is not a good look on the staff, that ****t is embarrassing af.
Just Wait till the transfers start as people are going to be jumping off the sinking Lispy ship. Because this BS favoritism and playing crappy upperclassman over more talented underclassmen is gone bite Manure right where his manure comes out. Lol he’s done here and we all know it, now I’m just laughing at everything he does and says. Hopefully he’s gone sooner then later.

I agree with that maybe other alternatives can happen during halftime, but during the game I personally think it’s needed to get someone’s head and attention back into it

The fact they play Wiggins gaynor Pope and Ivey as much as they do is nuts.
Yes to Pope and Wiggins, makes no sense. Not sure on Gaynor, but who da F are we going to play over Ivey with no Blades available? Marshall Few?

He had no problem going ape **** on the refs when they didn’t call pass interference on Brevins play! Why can’t he have that same energy when these same kids are dropping passes?

As someone who coached, as I am sure many of you have, I have a different perspective.
Yelling is for practice. That is when you break them down and build them up.
Come game time it needs to be all positive reinforcement as you need to build confidence for players to perform in games. Most, if not all, athletes are insecure. So in games it does little to no good to tear them down. Let that happen in practice.
So that begs the questions, what do you do in a game when someone isn’t performing? 1. Build them up and believe that they will make the next play. 2. If they continue to fail get them out of the game because now they are hurting the team and further undermining their own confidence. Sometimes sitting a player is for his/her own good because their minds aren’t right.
As an earlier poster said, coaching is about getting the most our of every player, sometimes more than the player believes he can do. And that is psychology.

And I’m not comparing Manny to Jimmy but players feared Jimmy if hey messed up. Cause they knew they’d get benched. ******* Manure
