"A weekend that began with rare positive news for the USC football program ended with a thud for the Trojans that resonates across the conference.
Sunday afternoon, Mater Dei quarterback Bryce Young announced he was decommitting from USC and would sign with Alabama this winter for 2020 enrollment.
Young is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country in the 247sports composite rankings and had been committed to the Trojans for more than a year.
This is a significant blow to coach Clay Helton’s program. (And we assume the uncertainty over the future leadership of that program played a role in Young’s decision.)
Yes, the Trojans will have two quarterbacks with three years of eligibility on their 2020 roster (JT Daniels and Kedon Slovis), but this is a terrible look for the Trojans.
They should never get beat for a Mater Dei quarterback, much less lose a committed prospect."

Young, a mater Dei senior, becomes the latest elite prospect in the class of 2020 to leave the Pac-12 in favor of a powerhouse in a different region.
