Should this certain coach lose, this person might need to thumb a ride back from Boca. … By Matt Bonesteel September 11 College football Week 2
Al Golden, owner of the longest-running hot seat in American sports history, continues his quest not to get fired as Miami visits Florida Atlantic. (and why are they doing that?)
Media throughout the American universe marvel at the Houdini-like escape-ability of UM Coach Al Golden from an AD's guillotine for failing to deliver sufficient wins with UM teams that were consistenly underwhelming and under-performing over a four-year period. In response to feeling taunted by the Administration and its Board of Trustees, fans have taken up with flying Banners seeking Golden's dismissal, particularly after nine members of this 2014 team were good enough to be performing with contracts at the highest level of their sports in the National Football League.
Some supporters of the University are upset with the flying banners opining that they bring a negative light upon the school in Coral Gables. On the other hand, those supporting the flight of the banners claim that they are the true supporters of the University and their efforts would expose the incompetence in University Administration for retaining Al Golden. Most importantly, the flights would ensure that another underwhelming year by Coach Al Golden -- that is, without an appearance in the conference title game, along with anything short of 10 wins including a bowl win -- can't hide the hand of UM Admin and its BOT from finally guillotine the Head Al Golden and his staff.
The media seems to be on board, and even musing that the beleaguered Coach might be left behind in Boca Raton

if he does not deliver a victory against low-tier opponent FAU.
