Over reaction a little bit . . . maybe?

I love my Canes, but if we don't get average punting / special teams and average QB play, we will probably lose 4 games this year (LSU, VT, FSU, and some random team we shouldn't lose to).

The defense could have played better for sure and Diaz made some headscratching moves, but the reasons we lost are very simple. First, our punting was horrific and consistently gave them great field position. I'd say the bad kicking led to 10 points. Second, Malik missed at least 5 easy big plays (maybe more) and threw two picks, including a pick 6. That led to at least 7 points, likely more like 10 to 14.

That's ballgame.

Depends on how you look at it:

- We're still good enough where 10 wins is realistic
- We went from NC hopes to now looking like we probably won't win the ACC Coastal

Welcome to life under Richt. Now you know how Georgia fans felt for 15 years.

Half the fans will be happy to be a 10 win team and a clean program, while the other half will be ****ed about always falling short of expectations.

That;s a super positive way to look at this and frankly, I don't think you're realizing how dialed in to Rosier other teams are. VT, FSU, BC, and heck even Toledo, will all be tough games, imo. Other teams now know how to gameplan for Rosier - take away the deep ball and the running game. Period. Yeah, he'll have some successes, but we know what to expect out of him. conversely, if we put out one of the new kids, then it's a clean slate and other coordinators will have to go back to defending the entire field against us (in theory, at least).

You’re crazy. Even with all the mistakes we made on special teams vs. LSU a consistent QB would’ve been would’ve taken a **** on that overrated LSU D. It would’ve looked like a World War II marine taking a flamethrower to a Japanese bunker on Okinawa. We should also still beat FSU...i don’t even think they’re a .500 ball club. VT on the other...

Y’all gonna hate me for this but if we had the ucf qb we go undefeated and win a natty. Kid is accurate and has balls. Just goes to show that size and strength doesn’t matter as long as you can put the ball where it needs to go. We don’t have that. We have all the ammo in the world but no gun to fire it

VT in Blacksburg is gonna be a tough one. Kids will come in confident cause of last year and we’ll underestimate them and get our **** kicked in

I would take the reject UNC put in last year over Rosier. I'm not kidding. If we had any ability to throw under neath our deep routes would be unstoppable.

Of coarse this message board ( and sports messages boards in general ) overreact. UM will still worst case win 11-12 games this season IMO . We aren't back nor should we be in year 3 of a rebuild after sucking *** since 2005 or so. We are sooo far ahead of anywhere we have been since then it aint funny. But I get it as message board which usually consists of many of a fanbases more nutty fans are going to act like Richt isn't one of the winningest coaches in college or that we aren't insanely talented minus at QB and OL but we are still in a better position at those spots for the future then we have been.

Bottom line we need to start winning. We need all of the next 4 to get some good momentum for FSU week. Win that, and we're 5-1 and back to looking good. Lose one of these games, including FSU, and the wheels will come off.

Because we played a weak FSU team at their place and had VT here...Malweak isn’t going up to Blacksburg and doing the same thing again. You’re crazy if you think he is.

I’m not saying we will win 10, I’m saying last year we beat VT because of our run game and D. Malik is going to look like crap all yet just like last year minus a game or two. I think our players are better this year talent wise. FSU still looks weak, VT will be brutal game but we are still going to be in it. We just can’t slip against BC. LSU is the best D we will face until Clemson. VT is missing half there D but Bud Foster had a month to prepare

In Atlanta the sun has come up every morning since the **** storm on Sunday. I think we were a little over rated at #8. Malik is not a very accurate qb. That is going to kill us this year. I haven't been a fan of CMR's play calling. Of course missing open wideouts will make the best play caller look terrible. We aren't as bad as we looked against Lsu thankfully! I hope!
Don’t you understand that this loss has upset the posters on this site and you should not say anything positive about our teams prospects. The “children”
thought we were an elite team and would dominate in the coastal division and play Clemson for acc title. Immature posters have only one way to react. Strike out at players and coaches. Same thing they did with previous 3 coaches. I predicted 3-4 losses on this forum before season began. The clueless posters now realize team is again mediocre and their frustration exhibited in their HATE of players and coaches. Spoiled “brats”!

LOL my stars. That UFC kid has not consistently even played defenses like VTech and no where near those types of away environments. But you think he can be QB against the Clemson's and Bama's of the world when all the chips are on the line and be a major factor in beating them?

He beat Auburn’s defense. That auburn d is no joke either

I agree it's going to be a rough road.

As I've been saying since last year, Miami is a totally different team on the road. I think @Toledo & @UVA are wins, but probably ugly wins.

Even with Rosier - say we go 2-2 vs. FSU, @BC, @GT, @VT. I we're talented enough where that's still realistic (although I don't think going 0-4 is out of the question)

That puts us at 9-3, and a mediocre bowl win puts us at 10-3.

Boom. An underachieving 10 win season. That's Richt's MO.

Also I liked how aggressive we were in the 2nd and 3rd drive in that game on offense. Richt should have came out in the opening drive in that game plan rather then trying to stuff it up the middle to allow them to build momentum

it's almost as if he waits until we're down to open up the playbook.

All he’ll need to do it hit WR’s with consistency and he’ll do it here bro. We’re not missing this superstar QB that will elevate us. We’re just missing competency. We could fix the OL and ST all we want, our ceiling will alway be 10 wins if we can’t find a competent QB.

Every day I come on here to see if the sky has stopped falling. Looks like today that might be slowing down and I can actually ready things on here. Though I will probably have to wait another day.

I think you're greatly underestimating the gap between this team and those teams in the trenches. In my opinion, we would be cursing Milton's name by halftime for not doing **** against the elites. However, I do agree that he's obviously a massive improvement over Rosier and gives the team a better shot at winning games.

What gave you any sort of an idea that we aren't as bad as we looked?
