One of the reasons why Miami should hire Butch. It's been a long time since other schools feared Miami. The program needs that to happen again.

I know people that feared Butch Davis, Miami fans from 2007-2009. I was so excited when the scandal hit UNC in 2010. They had already owned us for three years and if it weren't for the scandal it would have been much uglier. They were more aggressive and that 2010 defense would have dominated anybody.

Here in NW Florida, right in the middle of Alabama/FSU country, everyone I know is a fan of one or the other, and we talk football - almost civilly, but sometimes not.

The one common thread from both Alabama fans and FSU fans is their extraordinarily negative reaction to Butch Davis coming back to UM.

They know. And it's something they don't want to see.

Butch is my number 1 choice Schaino is my number 2 and always has been. Either one of those guys would play an attacking style . i dont see either one of those taking their foot off fsu throat if we are winning by 21 either.

Even though Butch is pretty **** famous for taking his foot off the gas...

What they are scared of is TOM HERMAN coming here.

dont think he would at this point in time vs a rival school.

That is his coaching style though... It doesnt really matter what you think. Butch has already made a pattern of letting off the gas.

My cousin, who is a life long rabid Nole fan and booster laughs when I mention Butch (reverse psychology? Or maybe he doesn't believe it will happen?), but says he'd be most concerned if we hired Chud. When we hired Golden, he said he was relieved that it wasn't Chud. FWIW.

20 first round picks on the field? I havent heard anything this funny from a delusional cane fan in a long time. Apparently were gonna have more talent than any other team in the nation by far in as little as 3 years. Nice.

What? You think it will take 4 years? You could be right. Not sure the exact number Butch averaged recruiting per year while he was here. I seem to remember a couple of 4's, a 5 or two and one 6. So (4x2) + 5 + 6 = 19. Yeah you are right it is going to take 4 years.

Im seriously doubting how many fans of other teams can even remember butch from a decade and a half ago. I live in Central Florida and the only 2 names ive heard as scary to other fans are Herman and Chud.

No offense to your cousin but nole fan are not know for intellect. If Butch was here two years ago, Cook and Travis would have been Canes -- where would they be without those two players?

Don't sell Herman short our offense would be excellent and Orlando is a good D.C.. They don't have to be scared preseason but they will by the time they travel to Miami.

I think you guys are going a bit overboard about outsides fear of Butch.. similar to suggesting that "the hate" is back because of the game vs Duke.. its not, no one cares. Your program has been down a very long time. Even your enimies want Miami better again, perhaps not great but good enough to benefit the ACC. I think Butch makes sense for Miami.. key would be the OC and DC as it seems he may be more of a program manager. Herman would "scare" me most, not Fuente. It wont happen for obvious reasons but who ever gets Temples coach will get a good one. Chad Morris with a good DC scares me.

Miami has talent.. Even Golden's recruits have 9!!! NFL rookies on rosters today. Talent is not the issue. You need a xs and Os coach who can prevent teams from collapsing after a tough loss. Shiano would disappoint you guys to no end but I feel he is the non-splash hire who would get you lots of Ws.

Please, feel free to offend him all you want. Lol. Personally, I think he's either posturing or doesn't really think it can happen. I'm pretty sure he'd be concerned if Butch actually got the job. Btw, he is avidly rooting for us to become a power again because, like most FSU fans, he despises the SEC and the privileged hypocrisy that surrounds them, and feels that we would put a huge dent in their recruiting classes.
