Outside zone to the right

4 - 73 and a TD. Great game plan to run it a whopping 4x.
Couldn't agree more. I kept calling for it last night because Indiana kept pinching the A gaps inside.

One thing is for sure, Indiana coaches did MUCH better film work than Miami coaches. Everything Indiana did in the first half defensively exposed Dawson's trends.....too much inside zone without changing it up enough with outside zone/stretch, a lot of underneath routes and nothing to push safeties deep, outside CBs sitting on routes and flying up to support the run bc they were not scared to get beat deep.

I thought we had a clear speed advantage and played right into their hands with condensed formations up the middle. Should have had the offense wide open.
First half yes; second half Dawson just have took some prevegen because he called a **** of a half.

And it was mostly shotgun duo which obviously is very apparent pre snap. We are much better from pistol.

Our overall down and distance tendencies they were very keyed into. We would have gashed them 2nd and 3rd and longer on runs like they did to us. Dawson is just not a good OC

CiCi is a monster
No legit creativity on O. Could have lined him up at fullback and handed him the ball. He would have wrecked that D for a TD. But that’s just me, Tueday morning QB. Oh, well…

Back to the topic: the sheer volume of folks screaming for outside zone or stretch for about 80 pages of the game day thread is why Dawson is so frustrating.

It was clear as day to a bunch of jags on a message board what to do.
You think if he was in the booth he’d see it, or be just as obtuse?

Did we run it 4 times? I only recall twice. One for the TD and one for around 10 yard with Fletcher breaking two tackles by DBs. Had we not had a blocked punt and gotten the ball back, we run it more. Instead we were playing from two scores down and ran out of clock to run the ball.

Our Hubris came back and killed us SMU style, just thinking being bigger would be enough, we spent a half burning thru 3 and outs (some with 3 quick passes also) but when we would get in short yardage we could not just A gap our way thru, to predictable and we were back in SMU mode.. FML
