Outside of Wisc/Clemson

Why steal what Richt was giving away for free?

Sadly, wasn't talking about our offense... How many times did Bryant pass before his first incompletion? We did see the emergence of the Striker after they completely shredding the middle of the field.

We had our shots early vs Clemson, could’ve gotten off the field multiple times on the first drive. Plus Malik missing a wide open Jeff Thomas down the field on the first series, then Badge missing the FG over the turnover and not being about to recover the fumble on the next Clemson drive

Plus up 14-3 with the ball back vs Wisco I thought we were going to run away with it until Malik threw the INT on the screen pass

Coulda shoulda woulda
When he threw that pick to the defensive end I fell out laughing. I know I should have been mad but that was funny.

The numbers weren’t overwhelming but they outschemed the **** out of Manny. They did honestly what every team should do. Use Manny’s aggressiveness against him. The whole first quarter was deception, counter, rollouts, moving the pocket, using Miami’s speed against itself. Then they dropped the hammer with Dillon. That was a clinic. 433 yards on 83 plays.

Miami’s offense though, 305 yards on 75 plays. Is there a vomit emoji?

They scored 10 points in the second half on drives that were:

7 plays for 9 yards FG
1 play for 14 yards TD

They may have put up numbers early but our turnovers and abhorrent special teams were responsible for that and every other loss we had last season.

Won’t argue that. It’s been discussed many times that, generally, Manny’s adjustments at the half have been excellent.

He got taken to school that first half, though. But that happens. They were jacked as always for that Red Bandana game, they had a great gameplan, and they have a Top 5 back in the country and Miami was on a short week on the road. Those are tough circumstances. Sometimes you need your offense and special teams to just stem the tide till you get your legs. But instead, we get Mark Richt, Malik Rosier, and Zach Feagles.

Last thing though, all that above being said, to open the game they went:

88 yards for a TD
77 yards for a TD
79 yards for a FG

230+ yards and 17 points on their first 3 drives. Give the defense credit for bowing up after that. But that’s being taken to school schematically to start a game. Those points count just as much early as they do late.

Pitt 2018 the defense couldn't leave the field in a few drives, although it wasn't a domination and maybe BC last year(didn't watch the game, but the box score looked bad).
And why not LSU? they dominated the defense and coasted on the second half

EDIT - 2017 Pitt
The Pitt game in 2017 was NOT domination by any standard whatsoever.

Their QB was 18/29 for 193yds & 1TD, they didn't have a single 100yd rusher (their RB rushed for 62yds & their QB got 60). We forced 2 Turnovers early in the first half & gave our offense a short field on both possessions & they couldn't score a single TD.

We lost to Pitt in 2017 because Richt couldn't make adjustments with the Offense, Rosier was 15/34 187yds passing at 44%cmp & threw for 2 late TD's when the game was already too late & out of reach. We also couldn't run the ball for sh*t, we combined for 45yds rushing total the WHOLE game. Homer had 12yds on 7 carries & Deejay had 4yds on 3 carries.

The Defense gave up 2 rushing TD's, 1 passing & a FG, while forcing 3 fumbles & recovering 2 of'em. If our Offense converts just ONE of those TO's on a short field in Pitt's territory & scores, we would've won the game.

I wouldnt say they dominated us cause we won the game and manny made some nice adjustments but 2017 against virginia Benkert tore apart our pass defense.
benkert played out of his mind that day, at least for 3 quarters or so. dude was dropping dime after dime after dime. i honestly attribute it more to that than our defense getting out-schemed. there were numerous times our DBs couldn’t have been in better position but he just dropped a perfect throw in there.

Yes. They owned Manny for the first half or so. Then Miami’s offense got rolling and Jaquan had his pick 6.

I want to see how fast Manny/Blake adjust in-game this season. Enos as well.

Thomas was lonely on that play except for all the grass around him.

Agree in general with you, as I said it wasn’t domination, but in the moment when we were trying to hold on for dear life, the defense gave up a 90yd, 6 minutes drive on the 4th quarter that ended with the QB running 22 yards for the TD on 4th&6. That was probably the moment when the Ritch’s offense bubble burst for good tho

It doesn't really matter which games you want to call which way. Even the very best DCs get shredded from time to time, Manny's results are very strong when it comes to consistent output. The occurrences are infrequent.

You really can't say anyone dominated our defense. When you had Beagle punting the ball 15 yards from our own 25 it's tough to defend our side of the field. And the reason we were punting from the 25 was because of this View attachment 92347
Mirror concept. Single high safety. Looks right and throws right. Geez man. He throws it to the 3 over 2 coverage instead of the 1 on 1 up top.

Oh and BTW they did not crush our defense. they had one big run and short field after short field.

That and never being able to convert 3rd down. ☹
