Our RB room is FILTHY

I hesitated posting this, because the world seems to think Fletcher is healthy. They clearly aren’t Miami fans, because if they were, they’d know:

1. We’re not allowed to have nice things
2. Injuries here are considered state secrets are are guarded closer than nuclear launch codes

So, as I’ve said since December, I don’t expect Fletcher this year. Yes, that’s the sopping ***** pessimist Cane fan coming out, but I won’t believe this dude is playing and is full speed until I see him in pads in fall camp without a no-contact jersey.

HOWEVER…if he is healthy, and people here seem to think he will be, PFF has us with the #6 backfield in the country.

Some of you may remember wayyyy back a few hours ago, I posted a thread about the WR room ranking #7 nationally by some CFB pundit. We starting to see a trend here? If Fletcher is really Fletcher, the talent on the offense really is comical and if we can’t field one of the ~15 best offenses in the country and put up 35+ a game, I ******* quit.

Cam Ward, the 6th best RB room in America, the 7th best WR room in America, Elijah Arroyo/Riley Williams/Jackson Carver/Elija Lofton and a Mario/Mirabal OL with 3 returning starters and a multi-year starter in the B1G in the middle.

Get it done. Period.

Not to put too much stock in all these ratings but PFF or somewhere had our OL at #10.

Top 10 QB, RB, WR and OL groups. Regardless of the accuracy of these things, it’s clear we have a **** good offense on paper and people recognize it.

In a measured type of perspective I think we'll be fine if Fletcher can come back around mid-season and truly be 100%. But losing him for all season would sting. As OP said, we can't have nice things and anything can happen to Martinez (knock on wood) with the contingencies being mostly young unproven guys + a JAG Ajay Allen. Just praying we get Fletcher back at all.

1) PFF throws poo against the wall
2) PFF list assumes Mark Fletcher
3) Lamp assumes no Mark Fletcher
4) Damian Martinez.. then booty juice
5) Booty. Juice.

A 100% healthy Fletcher still has a ways to go to get to where fans think he already is.

The RB room is all about Martinez. Your RB room is usually dictated by how good your #1 guy is.

These PFF "room" rankings are really weird. I get they're trying to take a different angle, but it's a little silly putting UCF #2 & Ole Miss who was desperate for RB's a couple months ago at #5.

Yeah....Jordan Lyle isn't booty juice.

We aren’t relying on Jordan Lyle. We got a top 8 back in NCAA last year to come in and be the bell cow.

While I think Mark Fletcher can be a better if he’s not good to go Ajay Allen had the same amount of TDs and 120 less yards on 35 less carries. There’s not some huge jump between his and Fletchers production. He will be able to fill that role fine and highly touted and insanely athletic CJ Johnson with a year under his belt should be able to fill the third spot.

Spend tens of millions, gamble on a true freshman RB, ranked 15th best coming of HS. What could go wrong?!

No, spend tens of millions and bring in a Top 10 nationally RB who has over 2000 yards of production at the P5 level, and pair him with one of the best true freshmen backs in the country (who has injury concerns, admittedly) AND the #11 composite ranked RB coming out of HS who is ready to contribute now.

I’m sorry we don’t have 3 all-American backs in the garage waiting in case 1 or 2 get hurt. The staff promises to be better.

People have really written off CJJ huh?

Definitely not me. But I just think the archetype of Lyle has a better chance of hitting, so I’m going to include him in the room. Especially early. I guess what I’m saying is I’d be really surprised if Lyle stunk. It’d be hard to fail with the attributes he has. For CJJr, can he be really good? Absolutely, that speed can be a total game changer. But he’s small and I’m not sure he’s the most natural runner. So I’m not going to be overly surprised if he never matriculates into a regular player here. IMO he’s just more of an unknown with Lyle being, to me, closer to a sure thing than he is.

But I’m excited to see CJJr this year. It’s the coaches job to get him the ball in space and make it easy for him to just do what he does best, which is run really fast.
