Our OC and DC

I remember folks here saying that about Guidry before begining of last season...
Yes.

But Guidry came from Marshall and never had P4 coordinator experience.

With Hetherman, he got better results than Guidry in arguably the best conference in CFB at ******* Minnesota lol

Al Golden was elite at the podium too. Let’s see Dawson without the #1 pick before we crown him

Dawson had a good offense here pre cam (when his qb didn’t go retarded). He’s proven to be a good coordinator.

I’m much more concerned about hetherman. I remember for months we were told we needed a head coach on defense and then we hired a guy with one year experience as a p4 coordinator. Hopefully it works out.

Dawson had more than one feeler after last season. He wants to be a hc for the right move. If you don’t think he’s getting that shot if the offense delivers again I don’t want to tell you other than you’re wrong.
He had feelers from schools like Rice. Miami is the perfect Job for him. He has an elite oline every year, barely has to recruit, is able to have sole focus on calling plays.

The way Mario has this staff set up, Dawson isn’t taking any coaches with him like Lashlee did. I can see Dawson going NFL or OC at another high level program before taking a g5/ low level p4 job.

It’s totally fair to have concerns about Heatherman, he doesn’t have the track record of Dawson and he’s never done it here.

I will say this though. He’s been a DC for 4 seasons. 3 at James Madison, 1 at Minnesota.

Can you guess, in those 4 seasons, how many times his defense has allowed 30+ points?

Three times. In four seasons. Once in 2019 at JMU in overtime. Once in 2020. And once last year at Minnesota, to Iowa, they scored 31.

And those JMU teams made deep runs. He coached 38 games there, and gave up 30+ twice. Pretty impressive. I’m really curious to see what he can do here.

Sure, there’s reason for optimism. He’s an up and comer with potential for high upside but we have no idea what that floor looks like. I’m not sure that’s what this program needed at this point, but again hope it works out.

Those are impressive stats but who gives up 30 to Iowa?

we're going to have a perfectly good offense this year that nonetheless takes a step back because we no longer have the #1 pick playing QB and the mouthbreathers here are going to be calling for dawson's head because he had the audacity to be good at his job but not produce the #1 offense in college football 2 years running. count on it lol

P4 coordinators get paid just as much as G5 head coaches with less responsibility and more security especially if we’re always willing to pay for a good QB. You’re crazy if you’re looking to be a first time HC at some lowly P4 or G5 program these days. You’ll be fired in 3 years max. He should stay until he gets a really good G5 job replacing someone who just got a P4 job or a smaller P4 program wants him after their HC just got poached for an elite level P4 job.
Exactly. He’ll always have a good oline here and if he gets Beck into the first round top 15 then he’ll always be able to get a good qb which will always have him with a top 20 offense.

He has a good situation here so just depends on what opens up next year.

Go watch the condensed game. Minnesota had Kaleb Johnson bottled up but he just went ******* beast mode and broke 3-4 tackles every run.

Hethermen has been successful at every stop I think he’ll be great

Was surprised dawson didn’t get more offers after having the #1 offense

Didn't get the broyles award because we missed the offs
