Our last drive

Great question. I lean on the side of keeping the offense in rhythm, but in my mind, that does not trump milking the clock. Consider me flabbergasted.

Either way, WE WON! Everyone should be able to make sense of that fact.

I think Richt wanted to play the same up-tempo game Syracuse was playing. It worked, so I'm not complaining.

I liked it after they picked up a first down... We actually had rhythm and their defense was gassed. I like the mindset we play with in the fourth. They go after wins and don't just try to hold on for life.

I completely agreed with NOT eating clock on that drive. It was a rhythm drive.

We went 85 yards. The goal was to win the game, not not lose it.

Probably the most frustrated I’ve been all year. I was literally screaming and couldn’t understand why we were hurrying...

Did they score? They seem to need a sense of urgency and thus thought they had better chance for TD going quick, JMO

Because “bleeding the clock” would allow their defenders to rest.

As has been noted, their D was gassed at the end. And us going with a normal tempo kept them on their heels.

I think it was the right call. I’m anti-“coaching not to lose”. CMR coaches that last drive to win the game, and that’s what happened.

Same reason I liked his 4th down call on the earlier drive. Go make plays!

No rationale. Maybe it was about keeping the offense in its usual rhythm vs. slowing it down and ******* up the offensive flow.

Exactly. You needed first downs in that situation and realistically a score. When you get concerned about killing clock you usually just end up ******* yourself. I was happy with the pace personally.

IF we were to stall early in the drive and Syracuse drove down and kicked a field goal to take the lead, we more than likely would have had time left for another drive.

You don't play to sit on the lead in that situation. Glad Richt agreed.

Obviously we ended up scoring and it broke in our favor, but what is the rationale behind leaving that much time on the play clock?

Did you want a fullback dive play three plays in a row? Homer zcored on a run through a hole that you could have scored on. Did you want him to take a knee at the 15? Jackass.

because if we ****ed up and threw a pick or didn't score or something then we would still have 2 mins to get a stop and get the ball back

If we slow it down and then get stopped then we would have no time left to still win it

smart play by richt IMO not enough trust in rosier to score when we slow down the game.

The rationale is we wanted to score. To do that we needed to be in rhythm. Can't do that if youre running off the full 40s on the game clock, at least not for this offense.

Now for Bama or GTs offense that is exactly how their built to play. But for us it seemed to me like Richt didn't want the offense just focused on running out the clock, he wanted the offense focus on putting points on the board

Rosier is a rhythm thrower, period. Sooner you get used to it, the better. As soon as he is off rhythm things get dicey.

Looked like they were trying to score and win the game to me. Seemed to work pretty well.

haha.Yeah exactly. Offence sensed that it could move the ball by snapping quick. It worked. I guarantee if they bled the clock and didnt score people would be saying why not play to win. Dont change the offence. ahahahahahahha. Hindsight is always 20/20 couldnt be more true

I wanted them to bleed the clock, but also understood our offense is used to tempo..

So many idiots on this board it's hard to track of em.

You clowns are assuming that if we huddled and milked the clock that we still would've scored. There's plenty of evidence to say otherwise.

Not to mention 4:30 is an eternity in CFB. Syracuse also had 2 timeouts. The clock wasn't the issue. How we were going to score was. And Richt believed that was going up-tempo (something this offense does extremely well). And Richt was right.

We are the only fan base in the country that spends the entire post game overanalyzing a fvckin game clinching TD drive. It truly is incredible.
